Background Parkinson's disease is a chronic progressive neurodegenerative disorder with unpredictable symptoms, which leads to stress for individuals caring for their family members. Most patients with Parkinson's disease in Indonesia are cared for by family members. Their treatment requires continuous supervision and a great deal of attention. Aims Accordingly, this research explores caregivers' experiences in caring for family members with Parkinson's disease. Methods This study is qualitative with a phenomenological design. Participants, selected via a purposive sampling technique, were individuals caring for and living with family members suffering from Parkinson's disease. The data were analysed using the Colaizzi approach. Results This research identified four themes: the ways in which members of the family adapt; the impact of the patient's condition on the caregiver; support received in providing care; and the cultural and spiritual meanings the caregiver obtained when providing care. Conclusion This study uncovered several aspects that contribute to the understanding of the life of family members as caregivers for Parkinson's disease patients. This research also found there is still limited psychosocial support from health workers, so it is necessary for them to be more proactive in providing support for family members who care for patients with Parkinson's disease.
The absence of guidelines and lack of socialization for regarding triage scale make nurse's ambiguity to determinant the triage scale for patient, thus making the triage judgment innacurate. Inaccurate choosing of the triage scale is the first step that caused long waiting time, affecting the satisfaction rate, patient safety, and even morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this research is to determine the dominant factor of the nurse's clinical decision making on the precision of filling triage scale at Emergency Department of Padang City Hospital. This research is a quantitative research. 54 of 61 emergency nurses are participated in this study. The triage knowledge factor is the dominant factor related to nurse's decision making on the precision of triage scale with p value 0,012 and odd ratio value 17,856. Any methode for increasing the triage knowledge can be practice in triage room or emergency department such as triage algoritm and knowledge transfer among nurses.
Healthcare robots are used in Indonesia and other countries to combat COVID-19 pandemic. This article was aimed to describe a perspective about healthcare robots, and to recommend ways for Indonesian nurses to engage with healthcare robots during the COVID-19 pandemic. One view hindering healthcare robot appreciation as partners of nurses is its threat to their practice. However, with the current environment of COVID-19 ‘frontline’ situations, increasing infections of patients with SARS COV2, limited personal protective equipment, and the fastidious nature of maintaining social distancing and mask-wearing, it may be best to view healthcare robots as significant partners to facilitate safety, and ease the demands of nursing care activities in order to safeguard human lives while enhancing human well-being. Educating healthcare practitioners about healthcare robot programming and assurance of its safe and secure use can advance robot appreciation as partners in healthcare. These goals, challenges, and recommendations can provide Indonesian nurses some pathways-to-readiness towards a partnership involving healthcare robots, particularly during this COVID-19 pandemic, and in the future.
