Ainda que os planos para Bajo Belgrano (1948-1949) e para Barrio Sur (1956) não tenham sido construídos, eles colocam uma sequência importante ao estudo da cidade moderna e à carreira de Antonio Bonet Castellana. Trata-se de planos para novos bairros em Buenos Aires, nos quais a habitação é reconhecida como programa capaz de renovação urbana, tanto de áreas que eram pouco formalizadas, no caso de Bajo Belgrano, como de áreas tradicionalmente constituídas ainda que subutilizadas como em Barrio Sur. Os planos para Bajo Belgrano e Barrio Sur são discursos distintos. Mas existiriam componentes intercambiáveis entre essas proposições? Estudos recentes têm investigado ambos os planos separadamente e pouco se têm discutido sobre as relações entre eles, possíveis através do personagem comum Antonio Bonet Castellana. Este texto tem por objetivo confrontar estes planos, explorando suas diferenças e semelhanças, suas relações com a cidade existente, bem como suas contribuições ao conhecimento sobre a cidade moderna.
Resumo
Este artigo examina o Plano de Remodelação da Área Sudeste de Buenos Aires (1956),proposto por Antonio Bonet, entendendo-o como projeto que coloca discussões importantes ao estudo da cidade moderna. Pela pesquisa bibliográfica, tem-se que o projeto defende a habitação como programa importante a existir no centro da cidade, sendo articulado por outros, como trabalho e lazer. A cidade existente é o ponto de partida da proposição, e é reconfigurada em três elementos -a torre, a greca, e o edifício baixo. Este último se torna um elemento importante, capaz de controlar a área verde, e de formalizar uma rede pedestre. Desta forma, o plano continua uma investigação anterior ao estabelecer novamente um sistema que interliga as escalas da cidade e da paisagem, do bairro e da habitação.

Apesar de problemáticas, as noções de “primitivo” e “primitivismo” foram categorias essenciais para a arte e a arquitetura moderna na América Latina, tanto para produtores (arquitetos e artistas), quanto para seus intérpretes (historiadores e críticos). Estiveram fortemente associadas tanto à contribuição latino-americana para uma modernidade universal quanto à apreciação historiográfica dessa contribuição. Este texto tem por objetivo cercar determinados “usos do primitivismo” na arquitetura sul-americana, que coincidem com a presença de materiais naturais, como a pedra e o barro, e de técnicas construtivas pré-industriais. Embora essa presença possa ser discutida apenas nos termos de uma relação com o “vernáculo”, adota-se propositalmente a noção de “primitivismo”, por exibir um impasse (de certa forma indiferente ao vernáculo) de uma ligação intelectual, e não natural, com a tradição. O trabalho finaliza com algumas notas sobre a proposta de Lucio Costa para a casa operária de Monlevade no Brasil (1936) e as alternativas do grupo Austral para a casa rural argentina (1939).
