Introdução: A fratura da extremidade superior do fémur, frequentemente decorrente de quedas em pessoas idosas, pode requer a intervenção cirúrgica e conduzir ao défice da capacidade de autocuidado, com comprometimento do equilíbrio, da marcha e diminuição da capacidade na realização das suas atividades de vida diárias. Objetivo: Identificar os contributos dos cuidados de enfermagem de reabilitação para o autocuidado da pessoa com fratura do terço superior do fémur. Metodologia: Estudo de caso que respeita as guidelines CAse REport, em que se apresenta o caso de uma pessoa com fratura da extremidade superior do fémur. Resultados: Verificaram-se ganhos relativos à prevenção de complicações respiratórias e músculo-esqueléticas, aumento de força muscular, melhoria do equilíbrio, da capacidade funcional para o autocuidado, do conhecimento sobre medidas de segurança e técnicas adaptativas. Manteve-se um risco de queda elevado. Discussão: Sugere-se um seguimento mais prolongado para avaliação dos ganhos obtidos a longo prazo e a pesquisa de fatores que possam contribuir para a redução do risco de queda. Conclusão: A intervenção do Enfermeiro Especialista em Enfermagem de Reabilitação na pessoa com fratura da extremidade superior do fémur é fundamental para a restituição da sua autonomia e da capacidade funcional.
