Aims and Objectives:Pregnant women are at risk of dental caries and periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of health education program based on health belief model (HBM) on oral and dental hygiene behaviors in pregnant women in Fasa city.Materials and Methods:This is a clinical trial study carried out on 110 pregnant women selected using random sampling method from health centers in Fasa city in 2016 (55 patients in the experimental group and 55 individuals in control group). Data collection with questionnaire was based on construct HBM, as well as their performance about oral health. At first, two groups completed the questionnaires. And then, the intervention was conducted for the experimental group based on HBM. Four months after intervention, two groups completed the questionnaires twice. To analyze the collected data, the researchers used SPSS version 22 and descriptive and analytical statistics tests such as independent t-test and Chi-square and Mann–Whitney test.Results:The age of the pregnant mothers was 28.25 ± 3.02 years in the experimental group and 27.8 ± 4.20 years in the control group. Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed a significant increase in their knowledge, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, self-efficacy, cues to action, and performance and decrease in perceived barriers 4 months after the intervention.Conclusion:Applying the HBM is very effective for developing an educational program for oral health in pregnant women. Moreover, in the implementation of these programs, control, monitoring, and follow-up educational are recommended.
The aim of this study is investigating the efficiency of educational intervention based on PRECEDE model on promotion of osteoporosis prevention behaviors in women. This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 200 women registered in two health centers of Fasa city, Fars province, Iran in 2017 to 2018. A questionnaire including items evaluating demographic information and PRECEDE model constructs was used for measuring nutrition and walking performance of studied women in osteoporosis prevention before and 12 months after intervention. Bone mineral density (BMD) was recorded at the lumbar spine and femur before and 12 months after intervention. One year after intervention, the intervention group showed a significant increase in knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, reinforcing factors, enabling factors, nutrition, and walking performance compared to the control group. Also, the value of lumbar spine and hip BMD T-Score of the intervention group was increased, while this value was reduced in the control group. Our findings showed that educational interventions based on PRECEDE model can positively affect prevention behaviors from osteoporosis by improving subjects’ knowledge, attitude, enabling factors (resources such as health care access and services that can provide motivation for prevention behaviors from osteoporosis in women), self-efficacy, and reinforcing factors.
Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disorder characterized by reduction of one mass, deterioration of bone structure, increase of bone fragility, and fracture risk increment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of an educational program based on Health Melief Model (HBM) onosteoporosis and Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in women. In this quasi-experimental study, 160 participants registered with the health centers. 80 participants were randomly divided into the experimental and control groups. In order to measure the efficacy of nutrition and walking performance for prevention of osteoporosis, a questionnaire consisting of demographic information and HBM constructs was used before, immediately after the intervention, and 12 months following the intervention. BMD was recorded at the lumbar spine and femur before and 12 months following the intervention. Compared to the control group,the experimental group showed a significant increase in their knowledge, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, internal cues to action, nutrition, and walking performance immediately and one year after the intervention. Twelve months following the intervention, the value of lumbar spine and hip BMD T-Score in the experimental group increased, while in the control group it reduced. This study revealed the effect of knowledge, walking, and diet on bone mass based on HBM model. Hence, these models can act as a framework for designing and implementing educational interventions in order to prevent osteoporosis.
The primary objective of this study was to analyze the lived experiences of male first grade high school students regarding sex education with an emphasis on providing a curriculum model. Methodology:The method of the present study was qualitativephenomenological and applied in terms of purpose. The statistical population of the study was the male high school students of Isfahan in the academic year of 2018-19, who were interviewed by semistructured and in-depth interviews with 17 of them by purposeful sampling method until they reached theoretical saturation. Data analysis was performed at three levels of open, axial and selective coding. To validate the findings, the researcher and colleagues first reviewed the entire coding process and then provided it to 6 professors and experts. Satisfactory and approved. Findings: The findings were classified into two main categories which are: "Objectives" and "Content". Regarding the "Objectives" group, 4 main components (being familiar with the type of dressing and hijab, sexual recognition, responsibilities related to sexual functions, and prevention of sexual deviations) and 18 sub-components in terms of the content of the curriculum based on sexual education, 6 components (reproduction, sexual relationships, sexual maturity, sexual abuse, sexual health, and sexual information references) and 23 subcomponents were obtained. Conclusion:According to the present data, it may be stated that based on the students' viewpoint, recognizing sexual issues is considered to be a need that should be adequately addressed and understood during the educational period at school.
