Dissimilar welding or welding of dissimilar metals occurs when the need for a product or design with various materials varies. As a result, dissimilar metal welding experiments were conducted to try to prove whether it could survive or not. Experiments carried out directly with real devices will cost more. With the rapid development of science and technology, currently, there is much software for conducting design simulations and testing. This research uses Solidworks software to create a static test simulation on welded joints between SS 201 Annealed and AISI 4340 Steel Annealed. The test was given a tensile force variation of 17.125 N, 17.875 N, and 18.625 N. The simulation results showed that the tensile force of 17.125 N in SS 201 Annealed was still safe from fracture damage because it was still below the maximum limit. However, when SS 201 Annealed was given a tensile force of 17,875 N and a tensile force of 18,625 N, it could not withstand and suffer fracture damage to the SS 201 Annealed specimen. The AISI 4340 Steel Annealed material is still safe when given the three variations of the tensile force load because the tensile force variation is still below 5.6 points with the limit of the AISI 4340 Steel Annealed specimen capability. The connection condition of the low FOS value makes SS 201 Annealed and AISI 4340 Steel Annealed in a critical position against damage.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
