Purpose The state of limited resource settings that Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created globally should be taken seriously into account especially in healthcare sector. In oncofertility, patients should receive their fertility preservation treatments urgently even in limited resource settings before initiation of anticancer therapy. Therefore, it is very crucial to learn more about oncofertility practice in limited resource settings such as in developing countries that suffer often from shortage of healthcare services provided to young patients with cancer. developing countries within our Oncofertility Consortium Global Partners
Network—Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Argentina, Chile, Nigeria, South
Africa, Saudi Arabia, and India. Their responses were collected, reviewed,
and discussed.RESULTSSurveyed centers from the nine developing countries continue to experience a
similar set of common challenges, including a lack of awareness among
providers and patients, cultural and religious constraints, lack of
insurance coverage and funding to help to support oncofertility programs,
and high out-of-pocket costs for patients. Despite these barriers, many
opportunities exist and there is great potential for the future.CONCLUSIONThe current need is to unify the new technologies and best practices that
emerge from rural communities and developing countries with those in large
metropolitan cities, both domestically (US based) and abroad, into a
functional unit: the Oncofertility Professional Engagement Network. The
Oncofertility Professional Engagement Network will bridge the gap between
domestic and international programs to establish a strong global network in
which members share resources, methodologies and experiences and further
build cultural competency.
Objectives: To identify the influence of fetal, neonatal and treatment variables on neurodevelopment in children with congenital hypothyroidism. Methods: A multiple regression analysis was performed in the neurodevelopmental scores of 26 children with CH who were assessed at 3, 6, 12 and 18 months for postural control, fine eye-hand coordination and language. The independent variables were: duration of fetal hypothyroidism, initial biochemical severity, days at starting treatment, initial dose, and efficiency of treatment. Results: Postural control was predicted by duration of fetal hypothyroidism and language by the biochemical severity of the disease at birth. Fine eye-hand coordination was not predicted by any variable. Conclusion: This pattern of influences suggests that fetal and neonatal hypothyroidism have different effects on brain maturation sites during the first 2 years of life and that some subtle neurocognitive deficits are probably unavoidable.

Se han reportado manifestaciones clínicas que han contribuido a entender el comportamiento de SARS-CoV-2; el área médico dermatológica ha expuesto estudios sobre la expresión del COVID-19 en piel, por ejemplo. Sin embargo, a nivel bucal es escasa la información. El objetivo de esta revisión actualizada de la literatura es analizar las implicaciones del COVID-19 en cavidad bucal a través de un estudio retrospectivo de corte transversal llevado a cabo mediante una exploración electrónica para la selección de información científica detallada en PubMed a través del NCBI, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud y en las bases de datos Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, Latindex, Cochrane Library y LILACS, basada en revisiones de literatura, reportes de casos clínicos y cartas al editor relacionadas con SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 y su expresión en mucosa bucal, en idioma inglés y español, del presente año 2020. Los tejidos de la cavidad bucal representan una estructura inicial susceptible a la infección viral y los fluidos bucales como vehículos de transmisión.
