Dans cette grande ville, symbole à l'époque de la modernisation nationale, elle exercera plusieurs activités, toutes très précaires, et se retrouvera finalement comme chiffonnière, habitant avec ses trois enfants dans la favela do Canindé, proche du fleuve Tietê. Avec seulement deux ans de scolarité, cette femme noire commencera à écrire en autodidacte sur des cahiers d'écoliers qu'elle ramassait dans les poubelles. Depuis toujours, elle avait cette obsession de publier ses écrits et d'être connue, ce qui la poussait à envoyer ses manuscrits à plusieurs maisons d'édition. Cependant, en 1958, elle est découverte par un jeune journaliste, Audálio Dantas, grâce aux concours duquel elle sera enfin publiée. En effet, Dantas fera une édition du journal de Carolina à partir de vingt cahiers. Pour lui, parmi tout ce qu'elle écrivait-romans, poèmes, proverbes-le journal était le seul genre qui « valait la peine d'être publié ». C’est donc par la voie du marché cinématographique et de la spectacularisation de la misère et de la violence que le roman racontant le drame de la favela « Cidade de Deus » a été présenté au grand public. L’objectif de cette étude est de cerner le contexte de la parution du roman au Brésil et la représentation du réel mise en œuvre par ce récit pour le moins polémique.AbstractCity of God, first novel by the young Afro-Brazilian writer Paulo Lins, was published in 1997 and achieved great media success by the time of its adaptation to the cinema in 2002. The screenplay was directed by the advertisement film director converted into a filmmaker, Fernando Meirelles. Therefore this novel, which narrates the story of Cidade de Deus, a Rio de Janeiro favela, is presented to the great audience by means of the cinematographic market and the spectacularization of misery. This paper intends to apprehend the context in which the novel was published in Brazil and the representation of reality staged by this, to say the least, polemic narrative.
O objetivo deste artigo é propor uma breve análise da condensação do clássico do romancista inglês Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol feita pela escritora Cecília Meireles, intitulada Um Hino de Natal, com o intuito de identificar e justificar as escolhas da tradutora. Para a comparação, utilizaremos uma edição original e uma tradução integral intitulada Conto de Natal, de Jorge Vidal Pessoa.
