Background: Dental caries caused by lack of students’s knowledge, attitude and actions about dental and oral health is an important concern in health development. Dental and oral health maintenance behavior plays a important role in maintaining the health of student’s teeth from caries. Objectives: To analyze the relationship of knowledge, attitude and action of dental and oral health to the level of caries in grade 1 students at SMPN 1 Alalak Barito Kuala. Method: This research is an analytical observational study with cross sectional design. Total amount of respondents are 32 students. Respondent was examined by DMF-T index and then answered questionnaires about dental and oral health knowledge, attitudes, and actions. Furthermore the data was analyze using spearman test. Result: Spearman test showed that a relationship between knowledge, attitude and action with level of caries (p<0.05) in grade 1 students at SMPN 1 Alalak Barito Kuala. Conclusion: There is a meaningful relationship between knowledge, attitude and action with level of caries in grade 1 students at SMPN 1 Alalak Barito Kuala.Keyword: Action, Attitude, DMF-T, KnowledgeABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Masalah kerusakan gigi berupa karies gigi pada siswa yang disebabkan karena kurangnya pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan siswa tentang pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. menjadi hal penting dalam pembangunan kesehatan. Metode: Menggunakan rancangan cross sectional dengan responden penelitian sebesar 32 siswa. Masing-masing responden dilakukan pemeriksaan kerusakan gigi dan mulut dengan indeks DMF-T kemudian menjawab kuesioner mengenai pengetahuan, sikap, dan tindakan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji spearman. Hasil: Uji spearman menunjukkan hubungan bermakna antara pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan dengan status kerusakan gigi dan mulut (p<0,05) pada siswa kelas 1 di SMPN 1 Alalak Kabupaten Barito Kuala. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan dengan status kerusakan gigi dan mulut pada siswa kelas 1 di SMPN 1 Alalak Kabupaten Barito Kuala.Kata kunci: DMF-T, Pengetahuan, Sikap, Tindakan.
Background: Temporomandibular disorder is a temporomandibular joint disturbance characterized with the pain in masticatory muscle and TMJ; clicking in TMJ; and deflection, deviation pattern with limitation in opening of the mouth. TMD can be found in adolescents with prevalence and severity increased along with the age. TMD in adolescent was caused by the increased of the masticatory muscle activity. In adolescent, it was caused by the increase of the emotional state especially stress. Stress is a condition that often experienced by every people including orphaned adolescent, who has more problems than the other adolescent. Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between stress and temporomandibular disorder in orphaned adolescent in Banjarmasin. Method: This study is an analytical observational research with cross sectional design. The study was involving 13-18 years old orphaned adolescents in Banjarmasin with purposive sampling. This study is using PSS for stress examination and RDC/TMD for TMD examination. The correlation between stress and TMD were analyzed with Spearman analysis test. Results: This research showed that 61% of the subject had moderate stress level and TMD was found in 68.3% of the subject, which consists of 58.5% had myofascial pain and 9.8% had disc displacement. Spearman analysis test showed that there is statistical correlation between stress and temporomandibular disorder in orphaned adolescent in Banjarmasin (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a correlation between stress and temporomandibular disorder in orphaned adolescent in Banjarmasin. Keywords: Myofascial Pain, Stress, Temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
Background: Knowledge and attitudes of parents are important in underlying the formation of children's dental and oral hygiene behavior because parents are the foundation for children's behavior and also influence children's development and independence. The role and practice of parents can affect the dental and oral problems of special needs children which will increase when they are older. Purpose: Analyzing the relationship between parents’ knowledge and attitude toward oral hygiene of special needs children. Material And Methods: This study uses correlational analysis with a cross-sectional approach, the sampling technique is a simple random sampling technique. The study was held at SLB Negeri Samarinda with a total sample of 52 respondents using questionnaires to parents and examine children’s oral hygiene then the data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. Results: Parent’s knowledge of (40,4%) in the moderate level, parent’s attitudes of (75%) in the positive category, and special need children’s oral hygiene of (55,8%) in the moderate category. The Spearman Rank test on parents’ knowledge obtained a significance of 0.000 (p<0,05) which means there is a relationship between parent knowledge toward oral hygiene of special needs children and the measurement of parent attitudes obtained a significance of 0.000 (p<0,05) which means there is a relationship between parent attitudes toward oral hygiene of special needs children Conclusion: The higher of knowledge and attitudes of parents toward oral hygiene, the better oral hygiene of special need children will.Keywords: Oral hygiene of special needs children, parent attitude, parent knowledge
Background: Caries can be caused by a lack of individual knowledge about dental health and attitudes to pay attention to dental hygiene. Parents have the most important role in determining the personality, habits and behavior of the child in taking care of the teeth and mouth. Every action taken by the parents will have an influence on the character of the child. Parents who provide a positive parenting pattern to their child, will form good personality, habits and behavior towards the child. But on the contrary, parents who are less attentive and do not care will form negative personalities, habits and behaviors. Purpose: To find out relationship of parents role to caries incident in adolescents at Sungai Loban Subdistrict. Methods: This study used an observational analytic method in the form of cross-sectional research and a simple random sampling technique. The research population was grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Loban as many as 63 respondents. Results: The Spearman test obtained significant score results of 0.000<0.05 which means there is a correlation between the role of parents to the incidence of caries in children. The correlation value is – 0.927 and includes a very strong correlation in the negative direction (-), it can be interpreted that the relationship is opposite or if the child's caries is high then the role of parents tends to be low. Conclusion: There is a relationship of parents role to caries incident in adolescents.
Background: Oral and dental health is something that must be considered and treated from an early age. Oral health problems in Indonesia still common, especially cases of tooth cavities. One of the factors that affects the case of tooth cavities is that never treating or coming to the dentist. The reason someone has never been treated or came to the dentist is that due to a dental anxiety. Dental anxiety is not only influenced by age but also influenced by children's behavioral factors. Purpose: To determine the relationship between dental anxiety level and children's behavior in oral and dental care in the form of a literature review. Method: All reviewed articles were obtained from Google Scholar data source search, Pubmed and Science Direct, which have a maximum journal publication period of the last 5 years. Results: The review was conducted in 30 journals that were found according to inclusion criteria such as journals available in full-text form and research subjects of children aged 6-12 years who were in good health and able to communicate well. Conclusion: The level of dental anxiety on children's behavior in dental and oral care shows that the results are related. Masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia masih sering terjadi terutama pada kasus gigi berlubang. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi kasus gigi berlubang adalah faktor tidak pernah berobat atau datang ke dokter gigi. Alasan seseorang tidak pernah berobat atau datang ke dokter gigi dikarenakan adanya suatu kecemasan dental. Kecemasan dental tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh usia tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor perilaku anak. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat kecemasan dental terhadap perilaku anak dalam perawatan gigi dan mulut dalam bentuk tinjauan literatur. Metode: Semua artikel yang direview diperoleh dari pencarian sumber data Google Scholar, Pubmed dan Science Direct yang memiliki rentang waktu penerbitan jurnal maksimal 5 tahun terakhir. Hasil: Review dilakukan pada 30 jurnal yang ditemukan sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi seperti jurnal tersedia dalam bentuk full-text dan subjek penelitian anak berusia 6-12 tahun dengan keadaan sehat dan dapat berkomunikasi dengan baik. Kesimpulan: Tingkat kecemasan dental terhadap perilaku anak dalam perawatan gigi dan mulut didapatkan hasil bahwa saling berhubungan.
