5G is a new technology. It offers unknown flexibility and serves a wide range of use cases. That flexibility was created by merging Internet and telecommunication technology. For this new merged technology security is a complex topic. We will break the 5G security space into building blocks. Some of those building blocks have well‐known solutions, others require deep new research. We will then describe new research areas and approaches. Trust creation for supply chain and core network malware analysis using machine learning will be the two examples that we will outline in detail.
