This paper presents the results of an experiment designed to test for nationality bias among members of the Brazilian philosophical community. Faculty members and postgraduate students from philosophy departments at seven Brazilian universities evaluated texts attributed to authors of European and Latin American nationalities. Results showed a clear preference for French nationality over Brazilian. They were inconclusive, however, when contrasting other Latin American nationalities with European nationalities, which likely relates to the academic background of the participants. These overall results support the claim that Brazilian academic philosophers are highly critical of Brazilians who produce theories of their own. The paper calls on philosophers to carefully consider the ways in which Eurocentrism impacts their very ability to reason.
In Brazil the main energy sources used are hydro and oil, which are not renewable. Due to the scarcity of rain, the reduction of oil wells and the population growth, the country may face a great need for energy rationing, coupled with the constant increase in its tariff. In view of the above, scientists and technology lovers have proposed new sources of energy, capable of minimizing these problems. As in Brazil there is a great solar incidence and few geographical accidents, which contributes to a good occurrence of winds, the use of the wind turbine can be a great alternative. The same can be defined as being an electric generator integrated to the axis of a wind trough, whereby it converts wind energy into electric energy. The purpose of this work is to analyze the characteristic curves of a micro aerogenerator using a laser anemometer with data acquisition via Arduino platform, both developed with materials of low cost of production. By means of this analysis, in the middle of a frequency of 2800 rpm, it was possible to extract the electric energy obtaining an efficiency of 58 %. The reliability of the design is directly related to the quality of the measurements and instruments used.
