An apparatus for separation of fine liquid dispersions is described and its performance characteristics are studied. It provides high separational efficiency at high flowrates and small pressure drop. The emulsion enters axially in a cylindrical cartridge, then flows radially through a multi-layer packing where phase separation takes place. The coalesced phase forms a film, which is continuously lead to the interface. The mainfeatures of the unitareoutlined and a comparison withothersimilar units is made.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
