O presente trabalho é fruto de uma pesquisa em desenvolvimento em parceria com a TV Unesp, emissora universitária vinculada à Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita, campus de Bauru/SP e que tem por objetivo identificar os pontos convergentes e divergentes na produção de conteúdo audiovisual informativo para a TV aberta e demais plataformas digitais e móveis. O texto em questão é a conclusão da primeira etapa da pesquisa que se pautou por identificar os pressupostos básicos que deverão nortear os conteúdos que serão produzidos posteriormente e veiculados pela emissora no decorrer da pesquisa. Foram analisadas as características do jornalismo audiovisual online e o modelo de negócios da TV aberta em contraste com o modelo de negócios presente na Internet.
The text is the initial result of a project called Global iTV, Interactive and systems Hybrid TV: a new advanced scheme for future services and applications in a global environment, contemplated by Call MCTI / CNPq 13/2012 -EUBrazil Cooperation Program in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) which has as its central theme the development of a standard that enables interoperability between the various digital TV systems operating jointly, exchanging and using information. Thus, using bibliographical and documentary research, the article goes on to demonstrate how this perspective panorama is drawing from the advent of digital television and the use of technology in Latin America, seeking to identify similarities, differences, problems and solutions arising from the use and consumption of digitizing television signal in the region. The results demonstrate the importance of media convergence, but point out that there are still large sections of the population on the margin of the Digital Society and the benefits provided by digital networks and that poverty and poor education are important contributions to this scenario.

The challenge of interactive digital television (iDTV) in Latin America is to give opportunity of technological access and participation to a significant parcel of the population whose main information source is (still analog) television. The increase in connected device possession and system digitalization has been modifying consumption habits of audiovisual content. Television is still the home center, but now it divides the attention with mobile phones, smartphones, tablets and laptops, delineating a consumption that is multitasking, portable, mobile etc., but not always linked (independent devices use), there are multi-platform services and products that allow this interaction, though. Several externalities must be considered, either the different stages of digital signal development and application, or the cultural diversity, laws, technological unfolding, education, and even the economic aspects of each country. The paper aims to provide demands of how to digitally include these millions of citizens who don't have internet access.
