The article covers the underlying theoretical aspects of the use of DICT 3 , of Physics/Science teaching in the Distance Learning practice. In this context, the article shows that the mediation done by these new mechanisms of communication and human interaction, brought on by the DICT, becomes wider and complex upon incorporating new language and codes and demands knowledge, abilities and competencies that go beyond the space of the Physics/Science to be taught. This reality, observed through the perspective of STSE, allows us to establish a critical focus on the introduction of DICT in the Physics/Science teaching. Through the prism of two emerging concepts of this social practice, mediation and literacy, the article shows that the use of digital technology, upon introducing more complexity to the teaching and learning process, can aggravate the difficulties of teaching and contributes to a larger lack of interest in the student.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
