The present study is aimed at: (1) profile students' emotional intelligence of senior high school; (2) composing guideline for the implementation of the model which is acceptable both theoretically and practically as well. The study applies research and development approach, involving senior high school students in Padang city as the study subject, using inventory and rating scale as the research instrument. Descriptive statistic is used to analyze research data. Research finding that: (1) modus students' emotional intelligence at senior high school in low category, (2) the implementation guideline for the model is well accepted by both related experts and practitioners. Referring to the study finding, it is recommended to the leadership of senior high school in Padang City to apply the model under study for enhancing students' emotional intelligence in the effort to improve their character.
The purpose of this study was to describe: 1) the representation of permissive parents in shaping adolescent's behavior. 2) the impact of permissive parents in shaping adolescent's behavior. 3) the developmental model of guidance and counseling services in shaping adolescent's behavior as a result of the permissive parenting. This study was descriptive qualitative approach. The key informants were two parents, two teenagers with one of their sister. The instrument used was structured interview and technique of data analysis was data reduction, data presentation and conclusion inductively. The results showed that: 1) the representation of permissive parents in shaping adolescent's behavior; it strongly needs to give them freedom to do many things without control and guidance. 2) the impact of permissive parents in shaping adolescent's behavior was they frequently use the freedom given without responsibility. 3) the developmental model of guidance and counseling services in shaping adolescent's behavior as a result of the permissive parenting was using an improved communication model and implementing counseling reality. The implication of this study is to apply the various types of parenting so that the control and guidance have a good impact for the adolescents. Furthermore, parents need to give the adolescents freedom in order to develop their positive behavior.Keywords: Guidance and Counseling Services, Adolescents’ Behavior, Parents’ Permissive Model
The purpose of this study was to describe: (1) Teachers of Guidance and Counseling Competence seen from the service formation phase in group (2) Teachers of Guidance and Counseling Competence seen from the service transitional in group, (3) Teachers of Guidance and Counseling Competence seen from the service phase activity in group, (4) Teachers of Guidance and Counseling Competence seen from the service ending phase in group. This study was descriptive qualitative approach. The informants were teachers of Guidance and Counseling as the leader of the group, group members, and coworkers’ group leader. The instruments were interview and documentation study. Technique of data analysis was data reduction, data presentation and conclusion inductively. The results of the study were (1) Phase of formation has not focus on the explanation of the activities purpose towards the growing sense to know each other among the group members, (2) Phase of transition has not been confirmed to move on the next phase, (3) Phase of activity has not been demonstrated as a regulator in this activity, and yet liven in group, (4) Phase of ending did not really understand that the group members can commit to either, yet the conclusion of this activity. The Implication is teachers of Guidance and Counseling obviously need to improve their competence in service groups according to the phases of group services.
