Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL) are rare in pediatrics. Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most frequent PCL diagnosed in childhood. There are various clinical variants of MF, including the hypopigmented MF (HMF). We present a 5-year-old boy with an 18-month history of progressive, generalized, nonpruritic hypopigmented lesions with central lacy erythema. He had no improvement with emollients. Skin biopsy showed typical features of HMF. He was treated with topical corticosteroids and tacrolimus and narrow-band ultraviolet B (NBUVB) phototherapy, with good response. HMF may mimic multiple skin disorders. Unusual hypopigmented skin lesions should be biopsied. Though phototherapy is effective, recurrence is common.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to assess the websites retrievable on an Internet search engine, with childhood dental caries information, available for the Portuguese speaking population, and also evaluate the quality of its information. Methods: The search engine selected was Google ® , with key words "Cárie" AND "Criança". The first 100 search results were assessed. Quality evaluation of the websites was performed by using the Health of the Net Foundation (HON) website. Results: Scientific papers, in .pdf format were the most retrievable URL (n=25), followed by health portals (n=14). Brazilian domains (.BR e .GOV.BR) were the most prevalent (n=73). Portuguese domain (.PT) was present in only 4 websites URL. Concerning the quality evaluation, only 5.3% of the websites retrieved had the HON Accreditation. Conclusion: Although caries is the most common childhood disease, there seems to be a lack of quality on this theme information in Portuguese language, available for these oral healthconsumers on the WWW.
A 1-month-old female Kuwaiti infant was referred to us with a history of an asymptomatic dusky red, stable, hairy plaque on the right thigh, present since birth. She had been delivered at term by lower segment cesarean section because her mother had had a previous cesarean section and had a birth weight of 3.5 kg. The antenatal history of her mother, the infant's birth history, and family history were unremarkable. On examination, her length, weight, and head circumference were all at the 50th percentile. She was observed to have a 9-· 7-cm indurated, dusky red, nontender plaque on the right thigh with local hypertrichosis in the area (Fig. 1). Her general parameters and examination of the rest of her skin and mucosae were normal. Histologic examination of a biopsy taken from the lesion is shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
