Objetivo. Avaliar as propriedades de medida do LIFE-H 3.1-Brasil, um instrumento genérico de avaliação da participação social, em indivíduos com hemiparesia. Método. As propriedades de medida foram avaliadas por meio da análise Rasch em 109 indivíduos (58±12 anos). Resultados. Na análise da adequação da escala de pontuação, os critérios de pontuação nem sempre foram totalmente utilizados, sugerindo que poderiam ser simplificados. A análise do componente principal dos resíduos sugeriu a presença de pelo menos uma segunda dimensão em ambas subescalas, o que é congruente com o construto participação social. Embora as duas subescalas tenham excedido ao limite de 5% dos itens erráticos, a eliminação destes itens não é recomendada, pois eles podem ser úteis em outras condições de saúde, já que esse questionário é um instrumento genérico. Tanto para a subescala ‘Atividades diárias’ quanto para a subescala ‘Papéis Sociais’, foram observados altos níveis de confiabilidade e boa adequação com o nível de habilidade da amostra. Conclusões. O LIFE-H 3.1-Brasil mede um construto muldimensional, o que requer cuidado na interpretação do escore total, mas mesmo assim, apresentou propriedades de medida satisfatórias, indicando sua utilidade clínica na aplicação em indivíduos com hemiparesia com variados níveis de participação social.
