Contrast medium is commonly administered by an infusion pump, ensuring continuous flow. However, this automated administration can increase the incidence of overflows, resulting in the flow of large volumes in a short period of time. Objective: a systematic review of the correlation of risk factors for extravasation of iodine- based contrast medium, with the most used barriers, as well as measures adopted when such an occurrence occurs. Methods: analysis and review of correlated data from PUBMED and Scielo platforms and websites. Eleventh articles were selected, of these, after reading the abstracts and adequacy of objectives, 16 articles from the last 10 years were used. Results: although the occurrence is small, between 0.01 and 0.09% of contrast-enhanced exams performed, extravasation is a constant issue in radiological imaging centers, with higher incidence in computed tomography exams. The study seeks to elucidate the direct correlation between venous access and the conditions of the contrast medium used, which together favor the infusion, especially when specific risk factors are identified early, thus favoring the proper course of this procedure. Conclusion: elaboration and application of protocols that ensure the non-occurrence, as well as those that cover the reduction of complications such as compartment syndrome, will provide increased satisfaction with the service. In cases where prevention is not enough, an adequate approach aimed at reducing further undesirable effects will differentiate the service offered and the credibility of the professionals involved. ABSTRACT Introduction: Sleep is a natural physiological process, complementary to wakefulness, reversible and cyclical, where several systems act together, contributing to the maintenance of homeostasis, thermoregulation, concentration, memory consolidation and learning processes. Sleep alterations and disorders can cause significant cognitive impairments, directly affecting quality of life, in addition to resulting in impairments in the performanceof studies, at work, in family and social relationships. Therefore, the university population, which already tends to have an irregular sleep pattern resulting from academic and professional demands, as well as a greater propensity to bad habits, is subject to having its learning process and academic performance compromised. Therefore, this research intended to investigate the sleep habits and sleep quality of undergraduate students. Objective: To analyze the sleep quality of undergraduate Nursing students, through the application of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index or Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire. Method: This was a field, prospective and cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach. The research was carried out in a private college, located in the south area of the city of São Paulo. The sample consisted of students of the morning period of the undergraduate nursing course, of both sexes, enrolled in the institution. Two data collection instruments were used. The first comprised a questionnaire to characterize participants. The second instrument was the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index or Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-BR questionnaire. The participants were invited to participate in the research and, after being informed of its objectives, received the Informed Consent Form. The researchers undertook to use the data exclusively for this study, respecting the ethical and legal principles of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council. The collected datawere submitted to statistical analysis and the results are presented through figures and tables. Results: With a total sample of 167 academics, the study showed that 67.6% (113) of them had poor quality sleep patterns. It was also possible to identify the main factors that affect the quality of sleep of nursing students. It was found that 22.2% (37) of the students used medication to help them sleep. In addition, 77.8% (130) revealed having difficulty staying awake while driving, eating or participating in a social activity. Most declared it problematic to maintain enthusiasm in their usual activities. Conclusions: This group is predominantly composed of people who sleep, on average, a smaller number of hours, have greater daytime sleepiness and use more drugs with hypnotic purposes when compared to the adult population in general. The high prevalence of poor sleep quality observed in this study may be due to the academic, professional and social demands imposed on students. The planning and regularity of activity schedules are recommended throughout the undergraduate years, as well as the adoption of practices to improve the use of the period available for sleep and to contribute to a better quality of life. Keywords: Sleep, Sleep wake disorders, Disorders of excessive somnolence, Students, Health occupations, Students, Nursing.
The movement of the eyeball causes a low intensity signal in the range of micro-volts to be generated, this signal passes through some amplification stages and is launched on a platform for verification of the input analog data. The system is composed of easily accessible materials, containing the basics to perform the acquisition of the oculography signal, for the assembly it was necessary to use electrodes (ECG standard), connection cables that will be plugged into the electrodes, an acquisition system and pre-amplification, the AD620 module was used, another amplification stage was also necessary, in this case an INA121 integrated circuit was used, the amplified signal is directed to the Arduino board responsible for processing the analog and digital data. Objective: to apply the technique in the future to some existing equipment, such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, among others. Method: We compile information on existing technologies, related to electronic components or programmable platforms already on the market, capable of capturing the input signal of the system, later its conditioning and finally the amplified output signal. Results: we can see that it is notoriously a very low amplitude signal and that when trying to visualize it with only one amplification stage it becomes almost impossible, small ripples are seen but without intensity, only after the second elevation stage does the signal show more visible and more plausible to calculate. It is also observed the importance that the instrumentation amplifier has in relation to the low intensity signal. Conclusion: The signal obtained in the tests reveals the possibility of conditioning them more adequately and applying it in future works. Palavras-Chave: Doença arterial periférica, Diabetes mellitus, Claudicação intermitente Introduction: Intermittent claudication is the first stage of the development of peripheral artery disease. It consists of the complaint of pain in the lower limbs while walking, due to reduced blood flow. Patients with peripheral artery disease often have several comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus. Hyperglycemia promotes vascular changes and, when associated with peripheral artery disease, brings symptoms that affect the functional capacity of individuals. Objective: To compare the functional capacity of patients with peripheral arterial disease with and without associated diabetes mellitus. Method: A quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective approach was carried out. The study included patients with grade II peripheral artery disease, divided into two groups: non-diabetic peripheral artery disease group I and diabetic peripheral artery disease group II. Individuals with restrictions on physical exercise or with difficulties in performing functional capacity tests were excluded. For the functionalevaluation, the patients underwent the following tests: 6-minute walk, 4-meter walk and the Short Physical Performance Battery. Results: For the 6-minute walk, 4-meter walk at usual speed and Short Physical Performance Battery tests, we found a significant difference (p<0.05) between the groups, with better performance in group I. The 4-minute walk test meters at fast speed showed no significant difference. Conclusion: Patients with diabetes mellitus had lower functional capacity compared to patients without diabetes mellitus, therefore, the presence of diabetes mellitus is a disabling factor for patients with peripheral artery disease. Keywords: Peripheral arterial disease, Diabetes Mellitus, Intermittent claudication
