O edema pulmonar por pressão negativa é uma entidade rara com uma incidência de 0,1% dos pacientes submetidos a anestesia geral. É uma intercorrência pós anestésica que se inicia pelo fechamento da glote durante inspiração profunda, com esforço inspiratório após extubação traqueal, aumentando a pressão negativa intratorácica e ocorrendo transudação de líquido para interstício pulmonar. O edema pulmonar por pressão negativa ocorre devido ao fechamento da glote durante inspiração profunda após extubação traqueal. O objetivo desse artigo foi relatar um caso de edema pulmonar por pressão negativa após extubação de uma paciente submetida a amigdalectomia.
