This paper intends to evaluate the imbrications between those two dimensions.
AbstractThe idea of a unified work of art, a Gesamtkunstwerk, as it was worked out in Richard Wagner´s aesthetics, is appropriated by Nietzsche within his project of recasting German Culture during his first years as Professor in Basel University. This appropriation, however, soon revealed itself as problematic, inasmuch as concepts and values it presupposes seem to sometimes oppose Nietzsche´s philosophy and Wagner´s aesthetics. The aim of this paper is to describe and discuss the efforts that were taken in this interpretation and its dilemmas -- that, all in all, ended up in their mutual break up.
AbstractTo understand the evolution of a philosophy of culture in Nietzsche's first writings we need to point out which were the positions articulated in his early teaching in Basel, especially regarding the connection between Bildung and philological activity, insofar as this activity was established by the general magisterial tradition that took place between late classicism and the struggle on the methodological procedures raised by philology scholars throughout the 19th century. Often the relations Nietzsche had built with this tradition are considered, as a whole, a rejection of its statements and grounds, although some recent eff orts have been made to balance this, identifying in them a certain ambiguity between disapproval and appropriation of some aspects of magisterial tradition. This paper advances in this eff ort by providing a closer investigation of how exactly a philological magisterial tradition was created and developed in Germany and which were the main divergences within itself that contributed to some extent to Nietzsche's views on culture, education and pedagogy -- both practically and theoretically thought.
Cultura. Pedagogia. AbSTRACTThe paper intends to investigate in which way the relation between cosmopolitism, as it was set up as ethical task by Kant and Aufklärung, heirs and the idea of culture and education (Bildung) was modified in Nietzsche's texts, according to a model that put at question the need to community to a new form of Pedagogy.
