Long‐range‐oriented liquid‐crystalline polymers (LCPs) can exhibit anisotropic mechanical, optical, electrical, and magnetic properties. The macroscopic orientation of LCPs proceeds relatively slowly and incompletely compared to low molecular weight liquid crystals. Here, the photopolymerization of thin films of nematically ordered LC monomers is shown to lead to oriented LCPs with high thermal conductivities.
Semiempirical Calculation and Synthesis of Substituted 1,4‐Dihydropyridines
Semiempirical calculations of 1,4‐dihydropyridines (1 – 16) done by the programme AMPAC show good consistence between the calculated and the measured absorption maxima at long wavelength. The presented calculation method can be applied to this class of compounds. Correlations between geometry, substitution, conformation, absorption behavior and limitations of the method are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
