Este trabalho tem como objetivo incorporar resíduo de gemas (lodo da serra de corte das gemas), produzido em uma empresa de lapidação de ametistas e ágatas, à massa cerâmica vermelha utilizada para a produção de tijolos maciços. As matérias-primas foram submetidas a ensaios de fluorescência de raios X, difração de raios X e análise granulométrica, para caracterização mineralógica e físico-química. Foram preparados corpos de prova com 0%, 5%, 9%, 13% e 17% de resíduo adicionado à massa cerâmica, em massa. As propriedades físicas estudadas foram a resistência à compressão, a retração linear, a absorção de água e a massa específica, de acordo com norma técnica vigente. Os resultados mostraram que é possível incorporar até 5% de resíduo na massa cerâmica.
ResumoAo longo dos últimos anos algumas preocupações ambientais tem se ressaltado, é o caso da contínua utilização de recursos naturais não renováveis bem como a geração de resíduos dos mais diversos segmentos. Felizmente, há possibilidade de empregar resíduos, por exemplo, como aditivos na indústria cerâmica. O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar a viabilidade técnica da incorporação do resíduo de corte de gemas na fabricação de tijolos, comparando a outro trabalho desenvolvido no mesmo município. Foram produzidos cento e cinquenta corpos de prova com as concentrações de 0%, 2%, 6%, 10% e 14% (m/m) de resíduo na argila. Os resultados obtidos após os testes de absorção de água, massa específica aparente e resistência à compressão revelaram que é possível a utilização de até 2% do resíduo do corte de gemas junto à massa argilosa. No Brasil, a indústria de beneficiamento de mármores e granitos gera cerca de 190 mil toneladas de resíduos ao ano, atraindo a atenção de pessoas de setores distintos: ambientalistas, empreendedores, gestores, etc. Este artigo objetiva avaliar o potencial do uso de resíduos de mármore e granito na cerâmica vermelha, considerando as propriedades mecânicas dos tijolos produzidos. Corpos de prova foram preparados com concentrações de 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30% e 40% em base mássica de resíduo de mármore e granito adicionado à massa argilosa. Os resultados obtidos, após os testes de resistência à compressão, à absorção de água, à retração linear e densidade de massa aparente, revelaram que se pode adicionar até 20% de resíduo à massa argilosa, sem prejudicar o produto final. Constatou-se que, com esta incorporação do resíduo de mármore e granito, o tijolo desenvolvido apresentou características refratárias que torna o produto melhor e mais competitivo. Evidenciou-se que o potencial desse tipo de resíduo pode ser empregado e possuir valor agregado, com possibilidade para a redução da taxa de uso dos recursos naturais.
