O presente estudo tem como objetivo fazer uma contribuição cientifica acerca das espécies de formigas do gênero Atta que ocorrem na Ilha do Marajó, norte do Brasil. As coletas ocorrem no campus da Universidade Federal do Pará de Soure, estado do Pará. As coletas ocorreram três vezes por semana durante os meses de janeiro de 2016 a agosto de 2017. Foram estabelecidos 10 pontos amostras dentro do campus e cada ponto compreendia um espaço de 10x10 m e em cada ponto foi estabelecido um tempo de coleta de 12 min, totalizando 2 h de esforço amostral por dia de coleta. Foram coletados um total de 3690 espécimes de formigas distribuídas em 5 espécies: Atta laevigate (Smith, 1858) (n=584), Atta robusta (Borgmeier, 1939) (n=769), Atta capiguara (Gonçalves, 1944) (n=216), Atta sexdens (Linnaeus, 1758) (n=1632) e Atta cephalotes (Linnaeus, 1758) (n=489). As espécies mais abundantes foram e A. sexdens e A. robusta.
