ResumenSe analizan las conexiones entre científicos y médicos en relación al desarrollo y terapéutica del tracoma en Argentina, infección ocular contagiosa, considerada una peligrosa enfermedad social en todo el mundo. Tal cuestión se vincula especialmente a los contextos de construcción del saber a nivel internacional y a la dominación colonial de las potencias europeas. Se estudian esos contactos desde finales del siglo XIX, cuando la enfermedad comienza a detectarse en Argentina, hasta los años treinta, cuando la participación de médicos argentinos en diferentes asociaciones oftalmológicas referidas al tracoma indicaría una preocupación local por incorporarse a los círculos internacionales. Se examinan manuales y revistas publicadas en Argentina y actas de congresos a nivel nacional e internacional, así como The British Journal of Oftalmology y la Revue Internationale du Trachome.
