Objetivo: Realizar uma reflexão teórica acerca de como os dados epidemiológicos se interrelacionam com o resgate histórico de segurança do paciente, e ainda refletir como a assistência de Enfermagem na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva é protagonista em ações diretas para redução de Eventos adversos. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo do tipo análise reflexiva, que está sistematizado em dois momentos: uma revisão narrativa que possibilitou o desenvolvimento teórico e conceitual da referida temática e posterior análise entre os conceitos adjacentes. Resultados: A partir do desenvolvimento teórico, foi verificada a necessidade de melhorar a compreensão do contexto em que pessoas são prejudicadas durante a assistência à saúde, para direcionar as políticas públicas voltadas à qualidade dos serviços. Na análise subsequente, o estudo dos eventos adversos demonstrou a importância dos indicadores de risco, pois estes permitem mensurar o distanciamento existente entre a assistência prestada e o cuidado ideal, fornecendo informações indispensáveis para a construção de um sistema de saúde mais seguro. Logo, o estabelecimento das seis metas internacionais na Aliança Mundial para a segurança do paciente permitem melhorar a assistência em áreas consideradas de maior risco. Considerações Finais: Dessa forma, para a administração hospitalar, acima de tudo na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva, a revisão dos eventos adversos é uma estratégia imprescindível para um bom gerenciamento de riscos, pois proporciona a melhor gestão de incidentes, a redução de perdas e custos inerentes aos eventos adversos, facilitando a tomada de decisões e planejamentos, e coadjuvando na melhoria da segurança do paciente.
Objetivo: Caracterizar os eventos adversos de uma UTI em um hospital público. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, descritivo, retrospectivo que analisou as admissões em UTI em um hospital público entre novembro e dezembro de 2019. A identificação dos eventos adversos ocorreu a partir da revisão dos prontuários. A análise estatística por meio do programa MS Excel, e considerou as frequências absolutas e relativas para as variáveis categóricas; e para as variáveis contínuas (média, desvio padrão, mínimo e máximo), sendo os resultados apresentados em tabelas. Resultados: Ocorreram 75 eventos adversos em 56,9% das 47 admissões. Quanto ao dano ao paciente 38,7% foram EAs moderados, 36% leves, 21,3% grave e 4% associados a óbito. Em relação a origem ou tipo de evento, as categorias mais frequentes foram: a) processo clínico/procedimento (56% dos EAs), sendo destes 28,6% eventos com lesão a pele, 21,4% relacionados a procedimentos não realizados, 19% eventos associados à sonda ou drenos, dentre outros; b) administração clínica (13,3%), sendo 70% deles relacionados a interconsultas não realizadas; e c) infecção (9,3%), sendo 57,1% relacionados a infecção da corrente sanguínea. Considerações Finais: Há uma elevada ocorrência de eventos adversos na UTI estudada, que principalmente causaram dano moderado e são relacionados a procedimentos da rotina do setor, a administração clínica e ao controle de infecções hospitalar.
Objetivo: descrever o perfil epidemiológico dos casos notificados da esquistossomose mansoni ocorridos no Brasil no período compreendido entre 2013 e 2017. Métodos: Caracteriza-se como um estudo descritivo e retrospectivo, desenvolvido a partir de dados secundários coletados no SINAN. Os dados foram obtidos no software Microsoft Excel®. A pesquisa não exigiu avaliação por Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: Os dados de incidência no período do estudo acumularam 28.781 casos. A região Sudeste se destacou com o maior número de casos, seguida pelas regiões Nordeste, Norte, Centro-Oeste e Sul. Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Bahia foram os que apresentaram maior incidência da doença, enquanto os estados do Acre, Roraima e Pará apresentaram as menores taxas. Dentre as variáveis avaliadas, em associação à doença parasitária, houve maior predominância do sexo masculino, adultos, cor parda e com baixa escolaridade. Considerações finais: o Brasil, apesar de ter apresentado tendência decrescente no número de casos nos últimos anos, o número de casos ainda é considerado alto e, portanto, necessita estabelecer melhores políticas de saúde voltadas à promoção, prevenção e controle da esquistossomose.
