Neste artigo foi realizada uma climatologia dos Distúrbios Ondulatórios de Leste (DOLs) que passaram pela região de Alcântara-MA, no período de 1988 a 1997, utilizando-se de um método baseado na mudança do sinal da componente meridional do vento (V). Este método foi aplicado para 3 camadas distintas (entre 850 a 700 hPa, entre 700 e 500 hPa e entre 850 a 500 hPa), objetivando identificar a camada que melhor indicasse a ocorrência dos DOLs. Após a identificação dos eventos de DOLs, estes foram confirmados por um conjunto de dados independentes de cobertura de nuvens (dados ISCCP e imagens infravermelho de satélites GOES-E) e pelos espectros de potência da componente meridional do vento usando as re-análises do ECMWF. Ocorreram eventos de DOLs durante todo o ano com duração de tempo variando de 3 a 6 dias. Esse método mostrou-se adequado para caracterizar os eventos de DOLs e que, durante a época chuvosa, as 3 camadas identificam a passagem do sistema atmosférico. No caso do período seco (jul-dez), as camadas com espessura maior (camadas entre 700 e 500 hPa e entre 850-500 hPa) conseguiram identificar os eventos, mas não a camada mais baixa (entre 850-500 hPa).
O objetivo geral deste estudo é avaliar a variabilidade temporal e espacial da precipitação na Bacia Amazônica brasileira, analisando a relação com eventos extremos, El Niño e La Niña, que são variações de temperatura associadas à dinâmica do Oceano Pacífico, e qual a influência a partir da intensidade dos mesmos, além da variação climatológica ao longo do período de 1982-2012. A importância desse estudo deve-se ao fato que a Região Amazônia comporta a maior florestal tropical e a maior bacia hidrográfica do mundo, suprindo as necessidades de umidade do resto do pais. Contudo o desmatamento da floresta e a ocorrência dos eventos extremos modificam o regime de precipitação. Nesse estudo foram utilizadas 224 estações pluviométricas em 8 sub-bacias, a do rio Solimões, Negro, Trombetas, Jari, Purus, Madeira, Tapajós e Xingu. Os resultados mostram o semestre mais chuvoso (novembro a abril) com aproximadamente 69% de toda a precipitação anual e, portanto, no semestre mais seco (maio a outubro) com apenas 31% da precipitação anual, o que indica estações distintas e bem acentuadas. Entretanto há variações do regime de precipitação entre as sub-bacias, sendo que as maiores variações sazonais da precipitação ocorrem na bacia do Solimões e na sub-bacia do Jari, cujas amplitudes anuais são respectivamente 362,95 e 323,39 mm. Os eventos extremos de precipitação, provocados pelos fenômenos El Niño e La Niña, afetam a bacia Amazônica de forma diferenciada nas sub-bacias, como observado no evento de El Niño de forte intensidade do ano de 1983, onde em 90% das sub-bacias (Purus, Madeira, Tapajós, Xingu, Negro, Trombetas e Jari), apresentaram elevadas anomalias negativas estremas, isto é, precipitações muito abaixo do normal e a do Solimões não apresentou extremos, porém apresentou precipitação normalizada abaixo da média.
A Bacia Amazônica é afetada por episódios de secas e enchentes, como El Niño (EN), La Niña (LN), Zona de Convergência Intertropical (ZCIT) e Zona de Convergência do Atlântico Sul (ZCAS), causando graves alterações nos fluxos dos rios. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo é analisar como os recursos hídricos em nossa bacia hidrográfica contribuem para o fluxo do rio principal da bacia amazônica, bem como o seu comportamento em face de adversidades climáticas, temporais e espaciais, no período de 1982 a 2012, a partir de 16 postos fluviométricos ao longo do principal canal da Bacia, esse fluxo depende das variações de seus afluentes, na margen direita e na margem esquerda, e foi verificado que a tendência de aumento da vazão média no canal coincidiu com os afluentes da margem esquerda, ou seja, nas bacias do Rio Negro, Trombetas e Jari. Quanto à magnitude do fluxo, isso depende dos afluentes da margem direita, a bacia do rio Purus, Madeira, Tapajós e Xingu. A sazonalidade da bacia amazônica mostra 65% do fluxo total na época das cheias e 35% na seca e os postos ao longo do canal têm uma tendência crescente na amplitude do fluxo médio anual, medida que se aproxima da entrada. A tendência de crescimento da vazão média na calha coincidiu com os afluentes da margem esquerda, bacias do Rio Negro, Rio Trombetas e Rio Jari, já a magnitude da vazão depende dos afluentes da margem direita, bacias do Rio Purus, Rio Madeira, Rio Tapajós e Rio Xingu, já com relação a amplitude de vazão a influência é ocasionada tanto pelos afluentes da margem esquerda como direita, exceto, a bacia do Rio Purus.
Resumo O município de Belém, no Pará, tem apresentado crescimento contínuo de sua área urbanizada e da frota de veículos nas últimas décadas. Essas mudanças estão também associadas a reduções na área de cobertura vegetal e ao aumento das emissões de CO2 locais. Há, portanto, a necessidade de se entender, de maneira integrada, a dinâmica das emissões regionais de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) em áreas urbanas. O estudo objetivou a elaboração de um balanço de carbono entre as emissões pelo transporte público e o potencial de captura pela vegetação no município de Belém. A emissão do transporte público foi estimada por meio do dimensionamento dos percursos das rotas de ônibus, e a captura, por sua vez, por intermédio de classificação semiautomática de imagens de satélite de alta resolução e referências bibliográficas. Identificou-se um potencial de captura equivalente a 5.117,82 toneladas de carbono/ano, enquanto a emissão pelo transporte público correspondeu a 146.889,61 toneladas de CO2/ano. Assim, a captura de carbono pela vegetação representou 3,48% do total de CO2 emitido pelo sistema de transporte público. Por fim, foi possível notar a necessidade de implantação de políticas integradas para obtenção de resultados mais expressivos na mitigação de emissões de CO2 em Belém.
