ABSTRACT Incubation period of Guignardia citricarpa at the different phenological stages in sweet orange 'Valencia'Citrus black spot (CBS), caused by Guignardia citricarpa, causes lesions on fruit that depreciate them for the domestic market and restrain them for export. The long susceptibility period in fruit, in addition to the occurrence of latent infection, difficult the understanding of CBS incubation period. The aim of this study was to determine the incubation period of CBS by inoculating fruits of 'Valencia' orange at different phenological stages. Conidia suspensions of G. citricarpa at different concentrations (10 3 , 10 4 , 10 5 and 10 6 conidia mL -1 ) were inoculated in fruit of different diameters (1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 cm). The relationship of CBS incubation period with fruit diameter was polynomial negative. The average incubation period for 3 cm fruit was over 200 days, while fruit which were greater than 5 cm in diameter had an average incubation period of less than 100 days. CBS incubation period is therefore variable and depends on the phenological stage in which the fruit have been infected. The concentration of G. citricarpa conidia did not interfere with the incubation period of the disease.
EFFECT OF CULTURAL AND CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT IN THE INCIDENCE AND SEVERITY OF CITRUS BLACK SPOT ABSTRACT -The citrus plants has several phytosanitary problems, including citrus black spot (Guignardia citricarpa).Control of this disease is based on cultural practices and application of fungicides. The effect of the weed management and chemical control was evaluated. The experiments were carried out in sweet orange orchards in Matão, Rio Claro and Mogi Guaçu municipalities in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. In the experiment of weed management, the use of ecological brushcutter was compared with the use of mechanical rake and brush combined, at 35 days after 2/3 of petals fallen. Chemical control was carried out by two spraying of protective fungicide and from 2 to 5 spraying of systemic and protective fungicides 45 days after 2/3 of petals fallen. The range of these spraying was 35 days and in all of them emulsifiable mineral oil (0.25%) was added. The area under the curve of the incidence progress and severity of the disease was evaluated using data from five evaluations that were realized every 15 days from the physiological maturity of the fruits. The use of chemical control associated with weed management decreased the intensity of the disease in all areas evaluated.
Propagation of three abiu genotypes (Pouteria caimito) by cutting of herbaceous branches ABSTRACTThree plants from a commercial orchard Pouteria caimito were selected, with desirable agronomic characteristics, original of seed propagation, which provided the herbaceous branches. These ones were prepared with about 15 cm of length, a pair of leaves on the higher node and diagonal cut on the bottom, after that they were treated with four doses of indolbutiric acid (IBA) (0, 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 mg.l -1 ) and, then, planted on perforated plastic boxes, containing as substrate, medium texture vermiculite. The conduction of the trial was on a 50% shade doses), with 4 replicates of 10 branches each. After 90 days the percentage of rooting and survival, the length and average number of roots per branch were evaluated. The IBA has not influenced the analysed variables. The genotype has only induced a higher number of roots on the selection 3 and higher root length on the selections 1 and 3.
