This study focuses on offering Foreign Language (FL) disciplines in national Higher Education given the demands of the academic and professional spheres through the parameters of the globalized society and its influence on the university internationalization process. Therefore, a brief history of higher education institutions in the country is presented, up to the configuration of recent institutional models, focusing on a new law of 1996, LDB (Guidelines and Bases of the Brazilian Education), which enabled the preparation of the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCN) and the reformulation of the curricula at all levels of education. This way, following the need for mastery of a FL, especially the English Language, considered as an academic lingua franca, a survey was carried out for the provision of FL in undergraduate courses based on opinions and decrees that they have guided their curricula over the last two decades, publicly available on the Ministry of Education and Sports website. By analyzing the files, mentions to the domain of FL were perceived, sometimes defined as FL and the Spanish language. Its offer is mainly related to developing communicative competence and reading ability. Thus, we observed that the FL has the role of allowing access, participation, and dissemination of academic research and extension activities globally, in addition to being related to the performance of the professional in training given current demands.
O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as estratégias empregadas pelo presidente Jair Bolsonaro em suas declarações a respeito da pandemia de Covid-19 durante os meses de março e abril de 2020. O corpus é formado por excertos retirados de entrevistas, pronunciamentos e lives, selecionados e publicados em primeiro de maio do mesmo ano na seção de saúde pelo website UOL Notícias. Pautado na Análise da Conversação, este estudo traz os conceitos de face, polidez, bem como marcadores conversacionais utilizados como formas de distanciamento e de envolvimento do falante em relação ao tópico discursivo. São analisadas, portanto, nove falas do político visando a verificar os mecanismos utilizados por ele no intuito de opinar e preservar sua autoimagem pública entre seus ouvintes. De acordo com os resultados, o emprego desses recursos contribuiu para uma postura de incredulidade do falante acerca das estatísticas e orientações de órgãos de saúde nacionais e internacionais.
Teaching a Foreign Language (FL) in Basic Education has among one of its goals contributing to the learner’s singular experience of building meaning by a discursive basis domain (Brasil, 1998), by means of reading and writing activities that promote his engagement in varied social practices and his formation as a citizen (Schlatter, 2009). This way, it’s presented a reading activity to Elementary School students based in Critical Reading (CR) and literacy as social practice (Street, 2014). It is started from reading as a process, proposing steps to achieve it (pre-reading, while-reading e post-reading), which involve previous knowledge of the text issue, text comprehension and interpretation and the development of the learner’s criticism through the text, respectively. Considering this proposal, it’s expected to emphasize the importance of CR to increase the learners’ participation in literate social practices, contributing to the formation of a critical reader and a citizen.
