O trabalho foi desenvolvido na Universidade Federal da Paraíba (CCA/UFPB) com o objetivo de testar diferentes tamanhos de recipientes na produção de mudas de pata-de-vaca (Bauhinia forficata). As sementes foram oriundas de árvores-matrizes localizadas às margens do lago do Departamento de Fitotecnia. Para estudar o comportamento das mudas, empregaram-se sacos plásticos de polietileno com diferentes dimensões: 30 x 25 cm, 30 x 15 cm, 17 x 15 cm e 15 x 9 cm. Para número de folhas, altura das mudas e diâmetro do colo, foi verificado o crescimento linear das mudas ao longo dos períodos de avaliação, em todos os tipos de recipientes, apresentando maiores valores no último período aquelas que estavam no recipiente de 30 x 25 cm. Os recipientes de maior dimensão (30 x 25 cm) favoreceram maior desenvolvimento vegetativo das mudas de Bauhinia forficata, e os de menor dimensão (15 x 9 cm) reduziram a taxa de crescimento das mudas, implicando aumento do ciclo de produção.
ResumoGenipa americana L. é uma árvore tropical, pertencente à família Rubiaceae, fornece frutos que são consumidos in natura e vem sendo explorados cada vez mais como matéria-prima de licor, vinho, refresco e também o uso da madeira branca para confecção de vários produtos. A secagem de sementes dessa espécie pode ser feita pelo método natural e/ou artificial. Dessa forma, este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito da secagem natural, em diferentes ambientes e períodos, na qualidade fisiológica das sementes de Genipa americana. As sementes foram submetidas à determinação do teor de água após o beneficiamento em cada período de secagem (0, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144 e 168 horas). Para a avaliação do efeito dos ambientes (laboratório e ambiente telado) e períodos de secagem foram realizados os seguintes testes: emergência em ambiente telado, índice de velocidade de emergência, comprimento de plântulas e massa da matéria seca. A secagem de sementes de jenipapeiro pode ser feita em ambiente telado (valores médios de temperatura de 33°C e umidade relativa do ar de 70%) durante 24 horas ou em laboratório (valores médios de 28°C e umidade relativa do ar de 75%) por até 48 horas sem comprometer a qualidade fisiológica. Genipa americana L. is a tropical tree belonging to Rubiaceae family, providing fruit that are consumed in natura and is being increasingly explored as raw material to liquor, wine, soft drink and also the use of white wood for making various products. The seeds drying this species can be made using natural and or artificial methods. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of natural drying, in different periods and ambient, in the physiological quality of Genipa americana seeds. Seeds were submitted to the determination of moisture content after processing and drying of each period (0, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144 and 168 hours). To evaluate the effects of ambient (laboratory and greenhouse) and drying periods were performed the following tests: emergence in greenhouse, emergence speed index, seedling length and dry weight. Drying seed genipa can be done in a greenhouse (temperature of 33°C with relative humidity of 70%) for 24 hours or laboratory environment (temperature of 28°C with relative humidity of 75%) for 48 hours without compromising the physiological quality. ResumoO objetivo desse trabalho foi testar a influência de diferentes substratos na emergência e no crescimento inicial de plântulas de biribá. As sementes foram escarificadas na região oposta à de emissão da radícula e, em seguida, semeadas em diferentes substratos: areia lavada (T 1 ); vermiculita (T 2 ); bioplant® (T 3 ); plantmax® (T 4 ); areia lavada + vermiculita 1:1 (T 5 ); areia lavada + bioplant® 1:1 (T 6 ); areia lavada + plantmax® 1:1 (T 7 ); areia lavada + vermiculita 3:1 (T 8 ); areia lavada + bioplant® 3:1 (T 9 ); e areia lavada + plantmax® 3:1 (T 10 ). Foram avaliados porcentagem de emergência das plântulas, índice de velocidade de emergência e crescimento das plântulas (comprimento e massa seca de raiz e parte aérea). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com 10 tratamentos, em quatro repetições de 25 sementes. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e a comparação entre as médias foi feita pelo teste de Tukey, a 5% de probabilidade. De modo geral, constatou-se que os substratos comerciais apresentaram as menores porcentagens e velocidades de emergência, sozinhos ou em combinação com outros substratos, sendo que os maiores valores foram observados com o emprego de areia + vermiculita. Em termos gerais, os quatro substratos avaliados, isolados ou em combinação, não divergiram de forma relevante quanto ao crescimento das plântulas, nos 75 dias subsequentes à semeadura. ResumoO gergelim (Sesamum indicum L.) tem grande potencial econômico, devido às possibilidades de exploração tanto no mercado nacional como internacional, o qual pode ser cultivado em segunda época ou safrinha quando está sujeito a condições climáticas menos favoráveis durante a semeadura e emergência, como o déficit hídrico. Diante disso objetivou-se avaliar o efeito do estresse hídrico induzido por soluções de polietileno glicol (PEG 6000) em diferentes temperaturas no desempenho fisiológico de sementes de gergelim. No trabalho utilizaram-se soluções de PEG 6000 com diferentes potenciais osmóticos (0,0 controle) e (-0,2; -0,4; -0,6 e -0,8; -1,0 -1,2 e -1,4 MPa) nas temperaturas de 25, 30 e 35 °C. Na determinação do efeito dos tratamentos avaliou-se a germinação e o vigor (primeira contagem, comprimento da raiz primária e parte aérea), em delineamento experimental inteiramente ao acaso, com quatro repetições. O desempenho fisiológico das sementes de gergelim é afetado pelo estresse hídrico, com reduções significativas na germinação e no vigor, sendo que a temperatura de 30 °C favoreceu o desempenho germinativo em potenciais hídricos menos restritivos. It can be grown in the second season when it is subject to less favorable weather conditions such as drought during the sowing and emergence. Given this the objective was to evaluate the effect of water stress induced by polyethylene glycol solutions (PEG 6000) at different temperatures in order to asses the physiological quality of sesame seeds. In this work, were used PEG 6000 with different osmotic potentials (0.0 control) and (-0.2, -0.4, -0.6, -0.8, -1.0 -1,2 and -1.4 MPa) at temperatures of 25, 30 and 35 °C. For determine the effect of the treatments it was evaluated seed germination and vigor (first count and length of the primary root and shoot), in a completely randomized, with four replications. The sesame seeds are affected by water stress, with significant reductions in germination and vigor. A temperature of 30 °C favored the germination performance in less restrictive water potentials.
O biribazeiro pertence à família Annonnaceae e seus frutos têm grande aceitação popular, sendo comercializados e consumidos in natura. Como a maioria das espécies nativas, necessita de estudos agronômicos, a fim de que venha a ser explorada de maneira racional e sustentável. Assim, objetivou-se estudar o efeito de tratamentos para superação da dormência em sementes de Rollinia mucosa. As sementes foram submetidas aos seguintes tratamentos: T1 - testemunha (sementes intactas); T2 - sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 em um dos lados; T3 - sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 nos dois lados; T4 - sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 na região oposta à micrópila; T5 - sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 na região oposta à micrópila + embebição com água destilada durante 24 horas; T6 - sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 nos dois lados + embebição com água destilada durante 24 horas; T7- sementes escarificadas com lixa Nº 80 em um dos lados + embebição com água destilada durante 24 horas. Foram avaliadas a emergência de plântulas, índice de velocidade de emergência, comprimento e a massa seca de raiz e parte aérea. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado com sete tratamentos, sendo quatro repetições de 25 sementes para cada tratamento. As médias foram comparadas pelo teste Tukey. A escarificação das sementes nos dois lados, seguida de embebição em água destilada durante 24 horas proporciona maior porcentagem de emergência de plântulas, caracterizando a eficiência na quebra de dormência de R. mucosa.
