Na experiência religiosa afro-brasileira, a multiplicidade de Exu, nome que designa simultaneamente um ser e vários seres, indica que estamos diante de uma divindade cuja existência não se separa do conjunto de suas versões. Este artigo procura demonstrar que todas essas versões constituem a afirmação de um modo de existência que faz confluir a multiplicidade e a individuação. Exu pode ser várias coisas, mas não necessariamente ao mesmo tempo e da mesma maneira para todas as pessoas e para todas as práticas situadas nas mais diversas comunidades de terreiro em que ele está presente. Exu é virtualmente muitos, vários, mas a sua existência é sempre uma existência para alguém, para um lugar, para uma experiência. Na sua afirmação simultânea da pluralidade e da singularidade, a divindade subverte o dualismo racista que pretende submetê-la.
Este artigo retoma uma parte dos materiais etnográficos relativos à feitiçaria aos quais dediquei um capítulo de minha tese de doutorado, consagrada à descrição de três casas de religião de matriz africana, todas situadas no sul do Rio Grande do Sul. Meu objetivo é demonstrar que os espíritos, não obstante invisíveis, dispõem de um significativo lado material, de tal maneira que o agenciamento ritual desses seres supõe um delicadíssimo trabalho artesanal, o qual inclui maneiras específicas de aproximar e separar determinados alimentos e ingredientes culinários, mas também o uso cuidadoso de certos objetos, lugares e palavras. Esse é o caso da criação ritual implicada na feitiçaria, objeto privilegiado por este artigo, mas cuja compreensão parece exigir a descrição de uma parte do que acontece durante o rito de iniciação. Eis, portanto, sua hipótese de fundo: a criação ritual é a expressão de uma relação de transformação entre diferentes ritos.
O presente dossiê é o resultado de duas reuniões do Seminário Temático "Encontro de Saberes: Transversalidades e Experiências" ocorridas respectivamente em 2017 (em São Paulo, na USP) e em 2019 (em Florianópolis, na UFSC), como parte das atividades da VII e da VIII Reunião de Antropologia da Ciência e da Tecnologia (ReACT). A ideia que nos motivou a propor esse seminário temático, de cuja formulação inicial participou o nosso amigo e colega César Guimarães da UFMG, era a de criar um espaço, necessariamente plural, que permitisse um encontro entre alguns dos vários "encontros de saberes". O propósito era constituir um lugar que tornasse possível alguma conexão transversal entre essas diferentes experiências, como uma aposta na direção de seu aprendizado recíproco. Este dossiê retoma o mesmo objetivo do seminário temático.Necessariamente plural, dissemos, pois isso nos levou a multiplicar o campo de ação mais habitualmente recoberto pela expressão "encontro de saberes". Nem todos os textos apresentados nessas duas reuniões, assim como nem todos os artigos publicados neste dossiê, correspondem exatamente ao que tem sido chamado de "encontro de saberes", que dispõe de um desenho similar nas diferentes universidades nas quais está presente, embora as propostas e arranjos variem de acordo com os contextos locais. Trata-se, em todos esses casos, da inclusão remunerada de mestres e de mestras dos saberes tradicionais como professores e professoras de universidades públicas federais e estaduais. O artigo de José Jorge de Carvalho e Letícia Vianna, que abre este dossiê, recompõe essa história e nos ajuda a situar a singularidade e a importância dessa experiência, desde a sua criação na UnB, em 2010, por iniciativa do próprio José Jorge de Carvalho e como resultado do trabalho do Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia de Inclusão no Ensino Superior e na Pesquisa (INCT Inclusão), até o momento atual, no qual assistimos e celebramos a sua expansão para muitas outras universidades.Essa ampliação do sentido referido pela expressão decorre de uma compreensão, seguramente compartilhada pela maioria dos colegas, de que o encontro de saberes constitui uma dimensão fundamental dos processos de inclusão étnico-raciais criados pelas políticas de ação afirmativa implementadas nos últimos vinte anos pelas universidades brasileiras. Desse modo, a reflexão sobre os encontros de saberes se situa dentro de um processo mais amplo de transformação das universidades, no qual, entre outros fatores, tem destaque um ingresso cada vez maior de estudantes negros(as) e indígenas na graduação e Encontros com o "Encontro de Saberes"
Este é o segundo volume do dossiê Encontro de Saberes: transversalidades e experiências. O dossiê é resultado de duas reuniões do Seminário Temático de mesmo nome, que aconteceram em 2017 (São Paulo/USP) e em 2019 (Florianópolis/UFSC) 1 . Este seminário, por sua vez, foi motivado pela proposta de criar um espaço plural que possibilitasse um encontro entre alguns dos vários "encontros de saberes", permitindo o estabelecimento de conexões transversais entre essas diferentes experiências. Os dois volumes do dossiê retomam o objetivo do seminário temático. A opção por dividi-lo e publicá-lo em duas partes ocorreu devido a razões de natureza exclusivamente editorial. O primeiro volume, lançado em maio de 2021, contém 11 artigos, enquanto o segundo, que publicamos agora, inclui oito artigos e uma entrevista. Como já afirmamos, "esse conjunto de textos traduz não apenas a heterogeneidade das experiências às quais se referem, mas também maneiras muito diferentes de realizar a sua abordagem e de pensar a partir das relações estabelecidas com elas" (BARBOSA NETO; ROSE; GOLDMAN, 2020, p. 16). Dessa maneira, os dois volumes buscam contemplar e dar visibilidade a essa variedade de experiências, em um momento no qual elas se encontram em um processo de expansão e de consolidação (CARVALHO; VIANNA, 2020).Cabe reforçar que nosso ponto de partida é uma visão ampliada do que vem sendo chamado de "encontro de saberes". Desse modo, uma das dimensões dessas experiências envolve a inclusão remunerada de mestres e mestras dos saberes tradicionais como professores e professoras de universidades públicas federais e estaduais, um processo que teve início na UnB em 2010 e que recentemente completou uma década. Desde sua implementação, essa experiência se expandiu para pelo menos mais 13 universidades no Brasil, envolvendo um número expressivo de mestres e mestras, das mais diferentes culturas e regiões; de professores e professoras de diversas áreas do conhecimento acadêmico; e de estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação (CARVALHO; VIANNA, 2020). Entretanto, os textos publicados nos dois volumes do dossiê englobam também iniciativas ligadas a outras 1 Recentemente, em novembro de 2021, este ST teve sua terceira edição, também na ReACT, que foi organizada pela UFSCar e aconteceu em formato virtual. A partir de uma retomada analítica da noção de respeito tal qual aparece principalmente nas religiões de matriz africana e em outros coletivos afroindígenas, este artigo pretende mostrar não apenas a centralidade dessa noção para as práticas vinculadas a essas tradições, como, a partir daí, conectar a noção com a própria prática da antropologia. Por meio de uma cuidadosa justaposição entre filósofos, escritores, pensadores indígenas, afroindígenas, quilombolas e afro-brasileiros, especula-se, assim, a possibilidade de uma relação mais respeitosa com outras práticas de conhecimento, capaz de contribuir para uma renovação das nossas. A experiência dos chamados encontros de saberes funciona, nesse sentido, como um meio a partir do qual se tenta pensar essas questões de modo a estabelecer uma relação transversal com as práticas com as quais se busca dialogar. Ou seja, uma relação definida pelo mais absoluto respeito diante das fronteiras que temos que cruzar para estabelecer esse diálogo, e pela vergonha diante de qualquer possibilidade de assimilar ou destruir aquilo com o que se pretende estabelecer uma relação.
