The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception among fourth-grade students. The method used was Quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The population was fourth-grade students of the Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The result of Anacova showed that for the “Class†variable, the value of Significance (P-value) obtained was smaller than the α significance level of 0,006 < 0,05. Based on the results of the Anacova test it was concluded that there was a significant effect from the use of Inquiry learning with scaffolding to decrease the percentage of light material misconception in fourth-grade students of Surya Buana Islamic Elementary School, Malang. The average percentage of students’ misconceptions in the experimental class at the initial conception was 38.7% and dropped to 15.4% in conception after inquiry learning with scaffolding. While the average percentage of students’ misconceptions of control class at the initial conception was 37.8% and dropped became 22.7% at conception after conventional learning. The decrease in the percentage of students’ misconceptions of the experimental class was greater than the control class by a difference of 10.7%. Further research is suggested to examine more deeply the effect of inquiry learning with scaffolding on process skill, learning achievement, and other aspects of learning that are likely to be developed in students.
<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of inquiry learning with scaffolding on science process skills and understanding of light material concepts in fourth grade students. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The samples taken were students of class IV A (experimental) with 25 students and class IV B (control) with 22 students. The results of this study indicate that the value of science process skills and the percentage of students' understanding of concepts in light material in the experimental class have a significant increase compared to the control class. From the results of Man-Whitney and Anacova statistics it can be concluded that, there is a significant difference in the use of Inquiry learning with scaffolding of science process skills and understanding of light material concepts in fourth grade elementary school students. </p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menguji pengaruh pembelajaran Inkuiri dengan <em>scaffolding</em> terhadap keterampilan proses sains dan pemahaman konsep materi cahaya pada siswa kelas IV. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen semu dengan desain <em>non-equivalent control group</em>. Sampel yang diambil merupakan siswa kelas IV A (eksperimen) dengan 25 siswa dan kelas IV B (kontrol) dengan 22 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa nilai keterampilan proses sains dan persentase pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi cahaya di kelas eksperimen memiliki peningkatan signifikan dibanding kelas kontrol. Dari hasil statistik <em>Man-Whitney</em> dan Anacova dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa, ada perbedaan signifikan penggunaan pembelajaran Inkuiri dengan <em>scaffolding</em> terhadap keterampilan proses sains dan pemahaman konsep materi cahaya pada siswa kelas IV SD.
This research aims to know the conformity of presentation based on Bruner's theory on fourthgrade mathematics textbook. This is qualitative research. The object of research is the material presentation of a fourth-grade mathematics textbook. Based on the analysis of theorem of presentation by Bruner, the facets chapter obtains a percentage of 56% which belongs to the appropriate category. The circumference and width chapter obtains a percentage of 92% which belongs to the appropriate category. The line connection chapter obtains a percentage of 50% which belongs to the appropriate category. The angle measuring chapter obtains a percentage of 56% which belongs to the appropriate category. The overall percentage of the geometry textbook is 64% which belongs to the appropriate category. The percentage of enactive aspects implemented in the presentation of geometry in mathematics textbook is 28%., the percentage of iconic aspects implemented in the presentation of geometry in mathematics textbook is 73%, and the percentage of the symbolic aspect is 56%.
The 2013 curriculum has been implemented starting from academic year 2013/2014 until now. In its implementation, the government has made various efforts to socialise the 2013 curriculum thoroughly, but with short preparations and learning instruments that are still in the perfection stage, it makes the low readiness of teachers. In fact, there are still many teachers who have difficulty in making and implementing curriculum learning instruments in 2013. Based on this case, this research is conducted to analyse the understanding of elementary school teachers toward the instrument of learning 2013 curriculum at SDN Sumbersari 1, Jember regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive and the data collections are interviews, questionnaire, and observation. By the research which has been done, it can be indicated the teachers of SDN Sumbersari 1 find difficulty, especially in preparing lesson plan components, instruments of effective assessment and student’s performance in a learning process. This can occur due to lack of training conducted by government and the instrument guidance is still not widely known by teachers
Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan muatan nilai-nilai karakter yang terdapat pada buku siswa kelas IV Tema Indahnya Kebersamaan. Sumber data penelitian adalah buku siswa kelas IV Tema Indahnya Kebersamaan. Data penelitian berupa nilai-nilai karakter yang terdapat pada buku siswa yaitu nilai sopan, nilai santun, nilai religius, nilai nasionalisme, nilai mandiri, nilai gotong royong, dan nilai integritas. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan, jumlah nilai karakter yang ditemukan sebanyak 84. Jumlah tersebut merupakan akumulasi dari semua tema yang terdiri dari tiga subtema yaitu keberagaman budaya bangsaku, kebersamaan dalam keberagaman dan bersyukur atas keberagaman. Adapun rincian jumlah setiap karakter yaitu: (1) sopan 2; (2) santun 4; (3) religius 22; (4) nasionalisme 26; (5) mandiri 10; (6) gotong royong 19; dan (7) integritas 1. Berdasarkan hasil analisis muatan nilai-nilai karakter pada buku siswa kelas IV tema Indahnya Kebersamaan dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku siswa tema Indahnya Kebersamaan kelas IV SD/MI memuat 7 nilai karakter.
