La competitividad de los programas educativos de las universidades exige que los contenidos de los programas académicos se ajusten de manera que puedan responder a las problemáticas del entorno. Por esta razón, en lo concerniente al perfil del desempeño ocupacional del ingeniero civil, en lo particular, resulta útil que el estudiante identifique prácticas y procesos administrativos que propendan por la reducción de costos y tiempos en las obras. En este artículo se presenta una propuesta de estrategias didácticas centradas en la reflexión alrededor de conceptos relacionados con administración de proyectos de construcción empleando reingeniería y la filosofía de construcción sin pérdidas (Lean) en diferentes actividades. Para ello, se parte de información recolectada en proyectos de construcción de vivienda en donde se evaluaron las mejores prácticas para la disminución de desperdicios. Se conjuga los conocimientos técnicos con herramientas centradas en la reflexión para afianzar conceptos de administración de recursos, tanto humanos como financieros, mediante herramientas que emplean pensamiento crítico, solución de problemas, compromiso social, trabajo en equipo y habilidades comunicativas las cuales, en conjunto, contribuyen de manera transversal a fortalecer aspectos éticos y de la responsabilidad social del ejercicio de la ingeniería. Se concluye del estudio que la reflexión es una herramienta útil del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, ya que prepara al futuro profesional a resolver problemáticas de su entorno.
La contaminación de suelos, debida a derrame accidental de productos químicos, es una amenaza permanente producida por el desarrollo económico y social de las comunidades. Particularmente, los derrames de hidrocarburos son comunes durante los procesos de producción de crudo, así como también durante su comercialización, transporte y almacenamiento en sitios de acopio y distribución. Surge entonces la iniciativa de evaluar las variaciones en las propiedades mecánicas de los suelos afectados por derrames de productos químicos de la industria del petróleo. Para esta investigación se seleccionó al aceite como contaminante, y una matriz de suelo arenoso, como medio poroso, que fue saturado con agua mediante bombeo de flujo ascendente, a una razón de 12 ml min-1. Se procedió a la toma de muestras en intervalos de tiempo definidos, utilizando recipientes de 30 cm3. En las muestras, se determinaron las concentraciones de aceite y grasa. Posteriormente, las muestras de suelo se sometieron a caracterización mecánica y los resultados se compararon con el comportamiento de la muestra de suelo no afectada por derrame de crudo. Se concluye que la gravedad específica, el porcentaje de absorción y la capacidad de compactación del suelo arenoso contaminado disminuyeron con respecto a los valores del suelo no alterado, mientras que se observa un ligero aumento en la resistencia al corte.
La formulación de los planes de desarrollo de los municipios se debe realizar partiendo de un diagnóstico de necesidades. Si fuese posible establecer un proceso monitorio sobre todo lo que no se ha ejecutado adecuadamente, podría resarcirse el perjuicio económico causado a aquellos proyectos no culminados aun cuando se les proveyeron fondos. Actualmente, los ciudadanos tienen las herramientas tecnológicas para hacer seguimiento de los procesos licitatorios. Este estudio muestra los resultados preliminares de la investigación sobre los procedimientos de contratación pública en Colombia. Se evidencia que el uso del sistema electrónico de contratación pública (Secop) es una herramienta de control que sirve para la veeduría de las inversiones públicas.

Colombia tiene el 90% de sus edificios patrimoniales en tierra y la mayoría de ellos están ubicadas en zonas riesgo sísmico alto e intermedio. Las casas consistoriales de la época colonial (casas de ayuntamiento hechas en adobe o tapia pisada) son parte de este patrimonio arquitectónico Colombiano y aún se conservan 11 de estas casas en el Departamento de Cundinamarca. Este artículo, presenta los resultados de un estudio desarrollado por los grupos de investigación GRIME y Estructuras & Construcción, donde el objetivo fue estudiar un método de rehabilitación de casas consistoriales de tapia pisada mediante maderas de confinamiento. La investigación se basó en pruebas en mesa vibratoria sobre modelos a escala 1:20, con y sin refuerzo en maderas de confinamiento. Los resultados sugieren que el modelo reforzado tuvo menores desplazamientos sísmicos (69% menos que el modelo sin refuerzo) y que las maderas de confinamiento disminuyeron la fisuración y el agrietamiento de los muros de tapia pisada.Palabras clave: Reforzamiento estructural, maderas de confinamiento, tapia pisada, adobe, ensayos de laboratorio, casas consistoriales, ensayos de mesa vibratoria
