RESUMOA gestação é um período de diversas mudanças na vida da mulher, as quais incluem, além das alterações físicas corporais, as oscilações hormonais, que, geralmente, são responsáveis por desencadear alterações de humor e depressão. O resultado dos sintomas depressivos durante o período gestacional, muitas vezes, ocasiona prejuízos não somente à mãe, mas também ao bebê. Entre os possíveis desfechos é possível apontar a pré-eclâmpsia, o parto prematuro e o baixo peso ao nascer. Avaliar a eficácia e a segurança dos tratamentos homeopáticos e alopáticos para a depressão durante o período gestacional, bem como os seus respectivos desfechos para a mãe e para o bebê. Revisão sistemática da literatura de artigos publicados entre 2005 e 2020 nas bases de dados Pubmed e Scielo nas línguas portuguesa, inglesa e espanhola. Por meio dos princípios da similaridade e da dinamização, bem como do cuidado holístico, a homeopatia é capaz de tratar os sintomas da depressão durante a fase gestacional, de modo a gerar o mínimo de efeitos tóxicos para a mãe e para o bebê. Ao passo que o uso de medicamentos alopáticos, isto é, que produzem no organismo do doente reação contrária a que ele apresenta, muitas vezes, são responsáveis por ocasionar efeitos teratogênicos, abortos espontâneos, entre outras complicações materno-fetais. Os medicamentos homeopáticos são capazes de gerar o mínimo de desfechos nocivos à gestante e ao bebê, mas desafios como o desconhecimento da prática ainda precisam ser superados.
