Abstract:This article describes a case of gingival asymmetry with compromising aesthetics. A 25-year-old dental student presented to the department of prosthetic dentistry. She was concerned about the greyish transparency of the crown metal margin through the marginal gingiva. The crown was placed to restore her lateral incisor. A comprehensive examination revealed that this unaesthetic aspect was caused by a non-harmonious gingival architecture in the lateral incisor marked by an unaesthetic gingival Zenith. The treatment plan included a surgical crown lengthening followed by prosthetic therapy consisting in a Zirconia based crown replacing the old prosthesis. Thanks to a well-planned multi-disciplinary approach, the result was esthetically acceptable and the patient was satisfied.
Non-Carious Tooth Surface Loss (NCTSL) is considered as a current issue of concern. It's management is challenging. Through this paper, the focus will be put on the different forms, locations and causes. Emphasis is placed on the importance of a thorough examination and indexing to assess the severity of tooth wear.A systematic and integrated approach leads to favorable and predictable prognosis. We aim to provide clear recommendations on the best treatment strategy and simplified guidelines to succeed tooth wear management? considering the patient's expectations, the esthetic demand as well as the risk profile. The patient should be fully informed. Restoration of severe tooth wear should ideally be delayed as long as possible. The different treatment modalities will be discussed according to the localization and the severity of tooth wear. The conservative, minimally invasive restoration, should first be considered.

ABSTRACTFixed prosthodontic failures are varied and complex. Complications associated with conventional fixed prostheses are dental caries, need for endodontic treatment, periodontal disease. Poor esthetic is one of the most frequent reasons for replacing failed restorations. Knowledge regarding the clinical complications enhances clinicians to complete a thorough clinical examination and diagnosis, and to develop an esthetic-driven treatment plan including the selection of bleaching agent, the reconstruction type, and the ceramic material. This article illustrates several clinical complications of full coverage restorations, and discusses different therapeutic modalities which have to be combined and synchronized to enhance the esthetic outcome of the final fixed prostheses.
Restoring a single central incisor should aim at preserving the affected tooth as well as re-establishing function and esthetic. This clinical report describes a patient with compromised smile due to the fracture of the tooth number 11which was immediately restored by resin waiting for the healing process after the trauma. A zirconia based ceramic restoration was performed. Basic guidelines were followed to guarantee a natural mimicry of the restoration.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
