RESUMO-A seda, naturalmente hidrofóbica, para ser tingida, tem necessidade de ser degomada, tornando-a hidrofílica por processo químico, removendo a goma natural (sericina), com produção de efluentes e perda de massa ao redor de 20%. O trabalho consiste na aplicação do tratamento corona em seda crua, submetendo amostras em função do tempo e da corrente corona, medindo-se o ângulo de contato (método da gota séssil). O sistema, denominado fioplano, é composto por uma fonte de alta tensão (40 kV) com corrente de até 500 mA e distância do fio até a amostra ajustável entre 3 e 10 mm. Os ensaios foram realizados em condições ambientes. Os resultados mostram que a seda crua tem ângulo de contato ao redor de 102º e com o tratamento corona consegue-se obter máxima absorção de água (ângulo de contato ao redor de zero), com tratamento de 45 s e corrente de 130 mA, indicando, assim, o grande potencial de uso da técnica na indústria têxtil. O método dispensa a degomagem e não gera resíduo.
