Actualmente, la transversalidad se ha venido destacando como un elemento de relevancia de los nuevos currículos y en las propuestas de reforma; no obstante, la exigencia de abordar determinadas temáticas o contenidos referidos a la salud, al consumo, medio ambiente, convivencia, violencia, sexualidad, género y otros, aún conocidos por el profesorado, no han alcanzado la permanencia en la enseñanza. Hablar de la transversalización de la perspectiva de género, implica adoptar una postura política, crítica y científica frente a la opresión, desigualdad y sometimiento de la infravaloración de un género frente a otro. La exposición de este tema, en la educación, es fundamental por la ola de violencia hacia las mujeres acontecida en la Ciudad de México en los últimos años, y se considera que el ámbito escolar puede contribuir para comprender cómo el profesorado puede apoyar la idea de transformar los imaginarios sociales que mantienen la idea de lo masculino como supremo. El propósito del texto es ofrecer pautas o formas de la funcionalidad del enfoque de la transversalización de la perspectiva de género en el ámbito educativo. Las reflexiones finales se enfocan en la potencialidad que tiene la transversalización de la perspectiva de género en el plano educativo, al recuperar el debate sobre la organización y la selección tradicional de los contenidos, así como las problemáticas sociales suscritas en la época y la sociedad.
