A novel fluoropyrazole ribonucleoside has been shown to have significant anti-influenza activity in vitro. The compound is compared and contrasted with the structurally-related compound ribavirin in attempts to identify factors having significant bearing on the mode of action of both compounds.
Carbocyclic-9-(2'-deoxy-2'-~-fluoroarabinofuranosyl) guanine (8) and the corresponding furanose compound (12) have been synthesised; the former compound [which was resolved by formation of the monophosphate (20) and enantioselective hydrolysis using a 5'-nucleotidase] is an extremely potent inhibitor of herpes simplex viruses types 1 and 2.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
