ABSTRACTThe experiment was conducted in the Section of Aviculture, of the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Paraiba to study the acting of 324 laying hens Lohmann Brown, submitted to different proteins and energy levels among of the 43 a and 55 a week of age. The laying hens were distributed in randomly experimental design in a factorial model 3x3, being 3 crude protein levels (15.50, 16.50 and 17.50%) and 3 energy levels (2700, 2800 and 2900 Kcal ME/kg), with 6 replicates and 6 laying hens for experiment unit. The parameters evaluated were production of eggs, mass of eggs, feed conversion for mass of eggs, weight of the egg, weight of albumen, weight of the yolk and weight of the shell, and their respective percentages. The crude protein and metabolizable energy levels had any significantlive influency (P>0.05) on the studied parameters. Crude protein and metabolizable energy levels shown linear effect (P<.05) only on weight and percentage of the albumen and shell, however there was not interaction on it. In conclusion the best crude protein and metabolizable energy levels for the laying hens Lohmann Brown in the period from 43 to 55 weeks were 17,50% of CP and 2900 Kcal of ME/kg for better weight and albumen percentage and of 15,50% of PB and 2700 Kcal of EM/kg for better weight and shell percentage.
ABSTRACT:The objective of this work was to determine the effect of environmental variables and supplementation levels on physiological parameters of Moxotó goats in confined and semiconfined rising systems, in the Brazilian semi-arid region. The semi-confined individuals were kept on a grass based diet during the day and arrested in the end of the afternoon. The confined animals were kept in a management center, receiving two diets composed by forage cactus and maniçoba hay into two different levels (0.5 and 1.5% of the body weight). Inside the management center and in the external environment the environmental comfort parameters were set high during the afternoon period characterizing a situation of thermal discomfort for the animals. During the morning the semi-confined animals presented an average respiratory frequency (69.5 mov min -1 ) and rectal temperature (39.5 o C) higher than the confined ones (62.6 mov min -1 and 39.0 o C, respectively). The confined and semi-confined animals were able to maintain their rectal temperature within normal limits, with increase in the cardiac beatings rate and respiratory frequency. The greater percentage of the used supplementations (1.5%) seemed to increase rectal temperature in the two studied rising systems.KEYWORDS: thermoregulation, environmental variables, native goat race, semi-arid.
