INTRODUÇÃO: A epilepsia afeta aproximadamente 2% da população mundial e há pouca divulgação pública de informações sobre o tema, tornando-se importante a apresentação do assunto às comunidades, especialmente no âmbito escolar, onde as crianças permanecem boa parte do seu tempo. O objetivo deste estudo foi aplicar em uma escola municipal de ensino fundamental de Guaianases, um dos bairros mais pobres da periferia do município de São Paulo, questionário sobre epilepsia dentro do projeto "Epilepsia na Escola e a ação do professor" da Associação Brasileira de Epilepsia (ABE). MÉTODOS: O questionário foi elaborado pela ABE envolvendo: conceituação e definição da epilepsia; causas; efeitos das drogas antiepilépticas; atividades da pessoa com epilepsia; e finalmente cuidados durante a crise epiléptica. O questionário com 21 questões foi aplicado antes de aula (fase 1) sobre o tema "Epilepsia para professores", e 2 meses após (fase 2). RESULTADOS: Houve acerto das questões em mais de 70% dos entrevistados na fase 1, em 13 de 21 questões, e na fase 2, em 17 de 21 questões. CONCLUSÕES: Observamos nesse estudo que professores de uma escola de uma das regiões mais pobres do município de São Paulo apresentavam conhecimentos básicos sobre epilepsia, que puderam ser incrementados após aula específica da Associação Brasileira de Epilepsia.
O objetivo foi realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a ação das metaloproteinases de matriz (MMPs) e das catepsinas na degradação da interface adesiva e abordar quais as principais substâncias utilizadas para inibir seus mecanismos de ação. Utilizou-se os descritores “Catepsinas”, “Metaloproteinases da Matriz” e “Adesivos Dentinários”, com seus correspondentes na língua inglesa, realizou-se busca nas bases de dados PubMed, Lilacs e SciELO, onde foram encontrados 32 artigos e selecionados 10. Foram empregados como critérios de inclusão, artigos datados entre 2007 e 2017 e como critérios de exclusão estudos de revisão de literatura e relatos de caso. As MMPs são endopeptidases (ENPT) zinco-cálcio dependentes localizadas na matriz extracelular que são capazes de degradar o colágeno, enquanto as catepsinas, que também são ENPT, estão presentes nos túbulos dentinários. A clorexidina foi o inibidor, para ambas as ENPT, mais utilizado na literatura, porém com um efeito residual de 24 meses, enquanto que Galardina, Tetraciclina e a Amônio quaternário são efetivas em inibir apenas MMPs. Substâncias naturais como a Proantocinidina e Epigalocatequina-3-galato (EGCG) atuam como efetivos inibidores dessas enzimas, contudo mais estudos precisam ser realizados para avaliar seus efeitos a longo prazo. Conclui-se que a inibição das MMPs e das catepsinas é um fator importante para durabilidade de união e que novos os inibidores naturais (EGCG e proantocianidina) são alternativas potencialmente viáveis para minimizar a degradação da interface.Palavras-chave: Catepsinas. Objetivo: Analisar as características da Síndrome de Cushing (SC). Revisão bibliográfica: A SC é ocasionada pela exposição prolongada a altos níveis circulantes de cortisol. A maioria dos casos de SC é mediada exogenamente, através da administração de glicocorticóides. A SC endógena é muito mais rara e apresenta incidência anual de 3 casos por 1.000.000 de indivíduos. A SC endógena ocorre por mecanismos dependentes ou independentes do hormônio adrenocorticotrofina (ACTH). As características comuns SC incluem depósito de gordura centrípeta, estrias abdominais, pletora facial, atrofia muscular, perda de densidade óssea, imunossupressão e complicações cardiovasculares. Considerações finais: A SC constitui um grave problema de saúde com complicações musculoesqueléticas, cardiovasculares e neuropsiquiátricas. Seu diagnóstico é feito através da suspeição clínica e dos testes de triagem: teste de supressão de 1 mg de dexametasona, cortisol salivar noturno ou alto cortisol urinário livre. A terapêutica de escolha para SC é a ressecção por meio cirúrgico da lesão primária que levou ao excesso do cortisol. Além disso, opções farmacológicas podem ser utilizadas em casos nos quais há contraindicação cirúrgica ou de forma adjuvante ao método operatório.
ResumoO objetivo foi avaliar sorção, solubilidade, micropermeabilidade e a resistência de união de um adesivo universal comercial contendo ou não partículas de carga. O adesivo Ambar Universal (FGM) foi usado como convencional (C) ou autocondicionante (A) diferenciando-se apenas na presença (CC e AC) ou não (CS e AS) de partículas de carga. Doze terceiros molares (n3) foram avaliar a resistência de união à microtração (μTBS) após 24h de armazenagem em água. Sorção e solubilidade foram testadas em discos dos adesivos (ISO 4049). Os resultados foram analisados com ANOVA e teste de Tukey (p<0,05). A análise estatística revelou maior sorção de água do adesivo com carga em relação ao sem carga. Maior micropermeabilidade foi observada na interface adesivodentina do autocondicionante com carga e os outros apresentaram pouca micropermeabilidade. Independente da presença de carga, os adesivos autocondicionantes apresentaram maior μTBS que os convencionais (p<0,05). Em conclusão, a presença de partículas de carga no adesivo universal leva a maior sorção de água e a maior micropermeabilidade da interface em comparação ao mesmo adesivo sem carga.Palavras-chave: Adesivos Dentinários.
