This cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative study aimed to analyze the performance of physical education professionals from the Academia da Cidade Program (ACP) in Primary Health Care (PHC) in Recife, Brazil. The study included 104 professionals who worked in ACP centers in the city of Recife. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. We also assessed variables related to participants' sociodemographic and professional profile, their performance in the ACP, out-of-center activities, and cooperation with PHC. Data were stored and organized using the EpiData software version 3.1 and then analyzed using SPSS version 10.0. Most professionals were female (61.5%), aged 30 to 39 years old (76.9%) and had not served any public health internships during their initial training (71.2%). As for their performance in PHC, most professionals carried out out-of-center activities in the community (77.3%), but these activities were not implemented in conjunction with the Family Health Units (68.3%) nor with the Family Health Support Centers (75.7%). Of those who implemented joint activities, 81.8% of participants built dialogue with community health agents. Furthermore, 57.7% stated that users' referral to Family Health Units occurred in an informal manner. We conclude that the performance of physical education professionals of the ACP in PHC in Recife has been made effective through the implementation of outof-center activities; however, these activities are not integrated with existing PHC strategies. The aim of this study was to describe the knowledge and attitude of professionals in the Academia da Cidade Program (ACP) in relation to social control. A cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative and qualitative approach was carried out, using a self-administered questionnaire. The data were tabulated using the EpiData Entry v program. 3.1. For the analysis of the quantitative data, SPSS software version 10.0 was used, results were presented in relative and absolute frequencies. For qualitative analysis, the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin was used. 104 professionals participated, who understand social control with "Participation of users, workers and managers in the planning, formulation, evaluation and inspection of health actions, plans, projects and programs". The majority (61.5%) participated in health conferences, considered this participation as very important (62.5%). Moreover, the great majority (81.7%) encouraged users to participate in social control spaces, as well as, valued and reflected (93.3%) on the demands indicated by them. However, more than 90.0% did not participate in health councils and territorial meetings. As a result, it was found that the majority of ACP professionals know social control according to the theoretical framework of the Unified Health System. As for the attitude, they participated in conferences, encouraged users to be participative and valued the claims brought by their routine work in the Program. However, they did not participate in the health councils and the social control spaces within their territory. It is suggested that these findings guide educational and training actions at the municipal and state levels.
The aim of the study was to describe the level of satisfaction and absenteeism in the work of professionals in the Academia da Cidade Program (ACP). For this, a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a mixed approach was carried out. For data collection, a self-administered questionnaire was used for 104 professionals of the Program in Recife, Pernambuco. For the analysis of the quantitative data, the software SPSS v.10.0 was used, the results were shown in absolute and relative frequencies. Content analysis was carried out for the open questions about job satisfaction. The professionals stated that they were satisfied with the work, both from the point of view of the management of the Program (66.3%), and in a global manner (63.5%). The link with the users, the performance in health promotion and the teamwork were the aspects that most positively influenced job satisfaction and, conversely, the physical and material structure, the municipal macro management and the salary were those that contributed to the dissatisfaction of the professionals. Absenteeism due to sick leave (66.3%) was the main reason for the withdrawal of professionals from work, and the support of the worker’s health specialized team from the municipal health department was not perceived. It can be said that the professionals were satisfied with the work in the ACP, but the working conditions, the remuneration and the valorization from the management are aspects that must be improved. It is also necessary to take care of the provider, since absenteeism due to medical causes, withdrew almost half of the professionals in the period studied.
