<p>O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a flexibilidade, intensidade de dor, mobilidade e força muscular de portadores de hérnia discal submetidos a tratamento por cinesioterapia versus hidrocinesioterapia. Os participantes do estudo foram 40 voluntários com diagnóstico médico de hérnia discal, randomizados por sorteio simples em dois grupos: 24 no grupo de cinesioterapia (GC) com média de idade de 50,6 ± 11,0 anos e 15 no grupo hidrocinesioterapia (GH) com média de idade de 50,5 ± 5,7 anos. Os programas consistiram em duas sessões semanais de uma hora durante cinco semanas. Os voluntários realizaram antes e depois das 10 sessões avaliações quanto à mobilidade funcional (Teste Timed Up & Go), intensidade da dor (Escala Visual Analógica), flexibilidade da coluna lombar (Banco de Wells - Figure Finder Flex - Teste) e força muscular (dinamômetro). A análise estatística foi feita com o uso do Mann-Whitney U-test. Em todos os casos, o nível descritivo α estabelecido foi de p< 0,05. Foi observado melhora significativa na mobilidade e intensidade da dor nos dois grupos. Ao compararmos o efeito de melhora entre os grupos, não houve diferença significativa. Sendo assim, ambas as técnicas conseguiram diminuir a dor e melhorar a mobilidade, embora não tenham melhorado a flexibilidade e a força muscular.</p>
