Introduction and objective.Measuring the level of patient satisfaction is a useful tool in delivering quality care that is responsive to consumer preferences. Various socio-demographic factors might be considered as potential predictors of patient satisfaction. The aim of the study was to assess whether place of residence (rural/urban) affects patient satisfaction with hospital health care. Materials and method. Data were obtained using face-to-face questionnaire, administered in five large, urban hospitals in Podlaskie Province, north-eastern Poland, during 2014-2018. The study sample comprised of 1,624 participants (585 rural, 1039 urban) who assessed satisfaction with 28 hospital health care items. The means and standard deviations were presented to compare 28 satisfaction items between the rural and the urban samples. Regression analysis was used to determine whether location difference (rural vs urban) affected patient satisfaction with various domains of hospital health care. Results. The mean results of 28 satisfaction items on the 1-5 scale were similar among the rural and the urban samples, and generally skewed towards positive experiences. In the univariate analysis, significant associations between place of residence and patient satisfaction were identified with regard to three components of inpatient care: 1) hospital settings and staff care, 2) doctors' professional skills, and 3) hospitalization outcomes. After adjusting for socio-demographic variables, the association remained significant only with respect to satisfaction with hospitalization outcomes (b = 0.121; SE = 0.055; p = 0.028). Conclusions. Some evidence for differences in patient satisfaction by place of residence was found. Study findings may be helpful in implementing care quality improvement programmes.

Funds collection zebranie funduszy Summary With a projected rise in the percentage of elderly people in the population of Poland, the incidence of neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia, will increase. The aim of this paper is to present dementia as an increasing health and social problem in the aging Polish population. In 2015, the number of people with dementia of the Alzheimer's type in Poland was estimated to be between 360,000 and 470,000, which indicates a growth of almost 20% compared to 2005. The onset of dementia symptoms causes a relatively rapid impairment of patients' daily functioning, creating the need for assistance by others. In Poland, caring for an elderly person with dementia is primarily non-institutional and provided by the closest family members in a home setting. Due to the shrinking care potential of Polish families, one should expect a growing need for formal forms of support to ensure proper care for elderly individuals with dementia. At present, Poland has a poorly developed system of formal assistance for dependent elderly people and the existing infrastructure of formal care services includes only a small proportion of potential beneficiaries. The prospect of further aging of the Polish population along with the growing risk of dementia and the shrinking family care potential justify the development and implementation of a comprehensive Alzheimer's Plan at the central and local level of our country.
Karczewska B, Gładczuk J, Andryszczyk M, Kleszczewska E. Używanie substancji psychoaktywnych wśród studentów w aspekcie analizy uczelnianych działań prozdrowotnych.Wprowadzenie. Cel pracy. Celem pracy była ocena skali używania substancji psychoaktywnych wśród studentów Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej (PWSZ) w Suwałkach w aspekcie analizy uczelnianych działań prozdrowotnych. Materiał i metoda. Badanie odbyło się w dwuetapowo. Przed rozpoczęciem działań prozdrowotnych, w roku akademickim 2013/14, zbadano 322 studentów pierwszego roku studiów. Powtórne badanie przeprowadzono po dwóch latach prowadzenia działań prozdrowotnych wśród 249 studentów trzeciego roku studiów. Badanie zrealizowano metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety własnego autorstwa. Wyniki. Alkohol był najbardziej popularną substancją psychoaktywną wśród studentów PWSZ. Nielegalne substancje psychoaktywne były najmniej rozpowszechnione. Nie stwierdzono różnic w zakresie rozpowszechnienia substancji psychoaktywnych wśród studentów PWSZ w trakcie prowadzenia uczelnianych działań prozdrowotnych. Wnioski. Materiał i metoda. Materiał do analizy stanowiły dane zebrane w latach 2013-2016 wśród 864 studentów pierwszego roku studiów Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej w Suwałkach. Badanie zrealizowano metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety własnego autorstwa. W celu identyfikacji uwarunkowań stomatologicznego badania kontrolnego posłużono się wieloczynnikową analizą regresji logistycznej. Wyniki. Większość badanych studentów przynajmniej raz w roku kontrolowała stan zdrowia jamy ustnej u lekarza dentysty (37,7%-dwa razy w roku; 38,1%-raz w roku). Większe prawdopodobieństwo udziału w stomatologicznym badaniu kontrolnym występowało w przypadku kobiet (OR 1,775; 95% CI: 1,249-2,521) oraz gdy sytuacja materialna badanych była dobra lub bardzo dobra (OR 1,584; 95% CI: 1,144-2,193). W analizie uwarunkowań stomatologicznego badania kontrolnego zmienne opisujące zachowania zdrowotne studentów nie miały istotnego statystycznie znaczenia. Wnioski. Większe prawdopodobieństwo regularnych wizyt kontrolnych u lekarza dentysty występuje w przypadku kobiet i osób o lepszej sytuacji materialnej. Promocja stomatologicznych badań kontrolnych powinna być kierowana zwłaszcza do studentów o niższym statusie socjoekonomicznym. Słowa kluczowe profilaktyka stomatologiczna, stomatologiczne badanie kontrolne, studenci WPROWADZENIE Jama ustna jest integralną częścią organizmu i bramą otwierającą drogę do dalszych struktur ustroju.
