The study evaluates the effect of corporate entrepreneurship (measured by innovation, proactiveness, risk-taking, strategic renewal and corporate venturing) on the non-financial performance of manufacturing firms in Nigeria (measured by market share and employees satisfaction). The study employed survey research design, through the administration of structured questionnaire to management staff of eight manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The findings revealed that innovation, risk taking, proactiveness, strategic renewal and corporate venturing are all significantly related with manufacturing firms’ non-financial performance. It can therefore be concluded that corporate entrepreneurship (CE) elements (risk-taking, innovation, corporate venturing, proactiveness and strategic renewal) enhance manufacturing firms’ non-financial performance (market share and employees’ satisfaction). It is recommended that manufacturing firms should employ CE elements towards the enhancement of their non-financial performance.
The study examines the effect of organizational culture (measured by organizational norms and organizational shared values) on intrapreneurship growth in manufacturing sector of the Nigerian economy. Survey research design was used through the administration of structured questionnaire to members of staff of Nestle Nigeria PLC and PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC. The population of the study consist 2325 and 3500 staff of Nestle Nigeria PLC and PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC respectively. Using the Raosoft sample size determination technique, a sample size of 359 was obtained. The findings revealed that, organizational culture positively and significantly affect intrapreneurship growth in manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The study further revealed that, organizational norms and organizational shared values significantly affect intrapreneurship growth in the manufacturing sector in Nigeria, with coefficient and probability values of (β 1 =0.982, p<0.05) and (β 2 =0.901, p<0.05) respectively. The adjusted coefficient of determination (adj. R squared) revealed that, organizational culture elements account for 69.8% variation in intrapreneurship growth. Thus, the study concluded that organizational culture plays a significant role in promoting intrapreneurship growth. It is recommended that, manufacturing firms should enhance their organizational norms as well as their organizational shared values towards the growth of intrapreneurship within their firms.
This study investigated the effect of business process reengineering on the performance of insurance firms in Nigeria, by employing two components of business process reengineering. Survey research design was adopted, through the administration of structured questionnaires on some selected staff of insurance companies at their head offices in Lagos, Nigeria. The research instrument was validated through content validity index (CVI), while the reliability of the research instrument was tested through test-retest method. The findings revealed that, the two components of business process reengineering adopted for this study have individual positive significant effect on insurance firms' performance and adoption of new process. The F-statistics revealed that the two components of business process reengineering adopted for this study have positive significant combined effect on insurance firms' performance in Nigeria. The adjusted coefficient of determination implied that, change in insurance firms' performance is explained by the combined business process reengineering components. It is therefore concluded that, business process reengineering components are important drivers of insurance firms' performance. It is recommended that, insurance firms should introduce new technology that will aid insurance penetration, especially information communication technology (ICT). The deployment of ICT tends to make it easier for existing and new customers to pick-up insurance policies through their smart phones or personal computers. Furthermore, insurance firms should equally come up with reengineered processes. The process of serving their customers should be enhanced.
Climate change is an observable variation in the climate systems that are attributable to human (anthropogenic) activities and natural process (biogeographical), which alters the atmospheric composition of the earth and ultimately leads to global warming. The relationship between climate change (measured by increasing temperature trend and decreasing rainfall trend) and the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria appears not to have been fully examined; this study examines the relationship between climate change and the business activities of Cassava farmers in Ogun State. This study employs survey research design, through the administration of structured questionnaire to cassava farmers in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State. The research instrument (questionnaire) was validated using content validity index, through the assessment of five academics staff (in the departments of business administration and agriculture) at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and Ibogun Campus, Ogun state, while the reliability of the instrument was tested through test-retest method by conducting a pilot study. The instrument was administered twice within an interval of two weeks and the outcome of the first pilot study was correlated with that of the second and a Cronbach alpha of 0.79 was obtained, which indicated that the instrument is reliable. The regression model was tested using categorical regression with the aid of STATA version 14. The findings revealed that climate change is negatively related to the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State with coefficient and probability value of: increasing temperature trend (-0.54, p-value<0.05) and decreasing rainfall trend (-0.72, p-value<0.05). It can therefore be concluded that increasing temperature trend and decreasing rainfall trend, have an inverse relationship with the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria. It is recommended that the government should come up with eco-friendly policies as well as liaising with other nations to combat global warming as well as creating irrigational facilities to augment decreasing rainfall, cassava farmers should maximize the use of the raining season as well as creating small irrigational facilities.
