Background: The Pharmaceutical Information Program (PIP) administered by Saskatchewan Health provides records for individual patients of prescription medications and some over-the-counter products obtained with a prescription and processed through the provincial drug plan. Use of the PIP to assist in obtaining a medication history on admission to hospital has been advocated; however, the accuracy of the database has never been investigated.
This paper presents a vocational rehabilitation approach in an inpatient forensic psychiatric institute. .In-house work, voluntary community work, and competitive community employment was designed as part of the patient's treatment approach. The aim was to improve basic work habits and also obtain competitive employment prior to release. This paper demonstrates that the program was more effective in working with people with personality disorders than it was for people with schizophrenia.
