Understanding of morphometric variation, length-weight relationship, and condition factors needed to support fishery resources management and conservation. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the morphometric variation, length-weight relationship, and condition factors of the Holocentridae family landed at the Lampulo Ocean Fishing Port, Banda Aceh. A total of 50 each of the four species of fish (Myripristis berndty, Myripristis murdjan, Sargocentron tieroides and Sargocentron caudimacullatum) were collected during April 2020. Fish samples were obtained from the catch of fishermen who landed at the Lampulo Ocean Fishing Port, Banda Aceh. The parameters analyzed included morphometric variations (12 characters), length and weight frequency distribution, length-weight relationship and condition factors. The results showed that the genus Myripristis had more distinguishing characters than the genus Sargocentron, namely 50.00% and 16.66%, respectively. Myripristis berndty and Myripristis murdjan have 5 distinguishing characters (SL, HL, CPL, HD, PFL and VFL), while Sargocentron tieroides and Sargocentron caudimacullatum only have 2 distinguishing characters (SnL and PFL). The Myripristis genus that were collected tended to more length and heavier compared to the genus Sargocentron. The four spesies of Holocentridae studied had a negative allometric growth pattern (b<3) with condition factor values ranging from 0.787 to 1.417.Pemahaman terkait variasi morfometrik, hubungan panjang bobot dan faktor kondisi sangat diperlukan dalam rangka pengelolaan dan konservasi sumberdaya perikanan.
Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is a freshwater fish with high economic value both as ornamental and consumed fish. However, the ability to adapt to fluctuating environmental states prompts snakehead fish to be susceptible to parasites, ectoparasites, and endoparasites. Gills, skin, and fins are the major body parts that are often infected with ectoparasites. This study aims to discover the macro pathology in gills, skin, and fins of ectoparasites-infected snakehead fish and its histopathology. This study was conducted from April to June 2021. Observational data on macro pathology and histopathology were analyzed qualitatively. The results indicated that the macro pathology of the skin, gills, and fins of snakehead fish infected with ectoparasites indicates discoloration, excess mucus production, the dull coloration of the gills, and irritation of the gills body surfaces, and skin hemorrhages. In conclusion, infection of ectoparasites affects several alterations in the skin, gills, and fins, both macro pathological and histopathological.
ABSTRACT. The hazard prevention symbol is an important safety communication tool, they help point out the various dangers that exist in the laboratory. At the same time, this symbol warns the student to always be aware of the hazard by providing necessary safety information and instructions. Hazard prevention symbols can communicate messages quickly and overcome language barriers. In 2015, come off major changes in chemical labels and SDS globally. There is a new language of hazard prevention symbols that must be understood by users of chemicals. Some chemical manufacturers have issued new types of symbols for hazard prevention. This is an implication of the adoption of GHS regulation (Globally Harmonized System) in several European Union countries and the United States. Many people who work and teach with chemicals still do not know in detail what has changed and what it means to them.Key words: hazard prevention symbol, safety information and GHS ABSTRAK. Mercury is a dangerous contaminant for aquatic organisms. Seurukan fish (Osteochilus vittatus) is a type of fish in the Krueng Sabee river that is vulnerable to mercury exposure. The study's purposes were to investigate the effect of mercury on the biometric conditions of Seurukan Fish in the Krueng Sabee River, Aceh Jaya Regency. A total of 90 Seurukan fish consisting of 50 males and 40 females were collected from 3 research stations. The research stations represent the upstream area (Station 1), median river bodies (Station 2), and the downstream area (Station 3). Fish samples were taken from July to August 2019. The main parameters observed included class interval, sex ratio, length-weight relationship, condition factors, mercury concentration in sediment and liver, and hepatosomatic index. The results showed that the mercury content in the sediments of the Krung Sabee River was increased both spatially and temporally. Station 1, located in the upstream area, has the highest mercury content in the sediment was 6.278 ± 0.987 mg/kg. Mercury content in liver of Seurukan Fish ranged from 0.182 ± 0.100 mg/kg to 0.198±0.152 mg/kg. Mercury contamination in the Krueng Sabee river caused a decrease in biometric conditions of Seurukan Fish. Seurukan Fish exposed to mercury tended to have smaller size, an unbalanced sex ratio, low hepatosomatic index value, and negative allometric growth pattern.
Like other fish, Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one species that potentially exposed to pollutants, including lead (Pb). However, the impact of Pb exposure on hatching rate and larvae development of Nile tilapia is still not investigated. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the toxic effect of Pb exposure on hacthing rate and larvae abnormalities of Nile tilapia. A total of 2,400 fertilized eggs of Nile tilapia was distributed to control and 3 treatment group namely: treatment A (0.21 mg/L PbCl2), treatment B (0.42 mg/L PbCl2) and treatment C (0.63 mg/L PbCl2) with triplicate. The exposure period lasted for ten days. Cumulative hatching rate, survival rate, malformation rate, heart rate, body length, total lead content and deformities of larvae were analyzed. The results showed that increasing Pb concentration significantly increased malformation rate, heart rate, and total Pb content in Nile tilapia larvae. The highest malformation rate, heart rate and total lead content observed in treatment C were 3.4%, 115.6 beats/minute and 4.80 mg Pb/kg, respectively. Furthermore, Pb was affect several deformities of Nile tilapia larvae including lordosis, kyphosis, and curved tail. Otherwise, exposed to lead up to concentration 0.63 mg/L PbCl2 have no significant effect on cumulative hatching rate, survival rate and body length in Nile tilapia.
