OBJETIVO: Verificar o desempenho de crianças com e sem transtorno fonológico nas provas de diadococinesia e a existência de correlação entre esta e o Índice Porcentagem de Consoantes Corretas Revisado. MÉTODOS: Participaram da pesquisa 35 crianças com idades entre 4:5 e 10:7 anos, sendo 15 diagnosticadas com transtorno fonológico e 20 sem alteração de linguagem. Foram aplicados em todos os sujeitos: prova diadococinética, anamnese, provas de fonologia e vocabulário do teste de linguagem Infantil ABFW, avaliação da fala espontânea e do Sistema Sensório Motor Oral. A partir das provas de fonologia e fala espontânea, foi calculado o índice de gravidade Porcentagem de Consoantes Corretas Revisado. Na prova de diadococinesia foi calculada a velocidade de repetição obtida pelo número de seqüências que a criança produziu dividido pelo tempo de produção destas. RESULTADOS: A análise estatística identificou diferenças significantes em relação à velocidade de repetição de seqüências por segundo e na produção de acertos e erros na prova de diadococinesia. Houve correlação entre as seqüências da prova diadococinética e o índice Porcentagem de Consoantes Corretas Revisado apenas no Grupo Controle. CONCLUSÃO: As crianças do Grupo Experimental obtiveram velocidade de repetição menor e mais erros na prova de diadococinesia. Houve correlação entre a prova diadococinética e o índice Porcentagem de Consoantes Corretas Revisado apenas no Grupo Controle, sugerindo o inter-relacionamento entre a maturação do processamento motor da fala e desenvolvimento fonológico. Sugere-se, portanto, a importância da prova de diadococinesia para a avaliação e o diagnóstico diferencial do transtorno fonológico.
