This article describes the realization of smart city concept in architectural and urban media spaces. Considerable attention is paid to studying the influence of some parameters of the “smart city”, such as adaptability, mobility, intellectualization, sustainability, security and some others. The article also analyses the elements of utopianism and realism in the application of high technologies in urban reality. The connection is studied between utopian models of ideal city and realized strategy of smart urban development, in which the integration of digital technologies leads to the formation of high-hume communicative space that serves as the locomotive of global changes. The study also identifies four theoretical models of media space and classification of urban screens according to compositional-planning implementation methods. As a result of the research, a hypothesis is suggested that there are some key factors and conditions furthering the implementation of the “smart city” concept, as exemplified by the creation of media spaces in urban environment. In addition, a conclusion is made about the prospects of using media technologies in the city on the example of Samara.
The article discusses modern conceptual architectural and urban planning projects. Taking the example of programs for international architectural and urban planning competitions, new architectural and urban planning typological units are identified. For example, urban meal mine, digital colosseum, parking tower, functional bridge, as well as habitat concepts, could be the next step in the development of cities. The projects noted by the competitive jury are analyzed on the subject of which aspects proposed by the participants are utopias, and which can become reality. As a result of the study, a forecast is made of the application of the identified design trends in relation to Russia, as well as recommendations are given on the introduction of such conceptual contests in the context of regional problems.
The article is devoted to the problem of implementing the idea in architecture and urban planning. Historically, the construction of exemplary models of life was left to the utopian genre, as evidenced by countless models of ideal forms of social structure. Any urban development project explicitly or implicitly contains an element of utopia, the proportion of which varies depending on the goals and objectives of a specific example. In the presented study, for the first time in architectural scientific discourse, a set of key factors is formulated that determines the feasibility of a utopian model in non-capital cities of Russia. Since the large regional centers of Russia have a cultural, natural, mental and historical identity, they can become an experimental sites for testing the modern urban development strategy. On the example of the development of the city of Samara, a large regional center of Russia, the main causes are identified, and also features of the implementation of architectural and urban utopias are revealed. Chronologically, the study includes historical, industrial, and post-industrial periods. As a result of the study, a forecast is given on the application of modern urban planning concepts in Samara. The proposed conclusions can be recommended for further use in the conditions of the Samara region, and if adapted, for use in other regions of the country.
