This study was made to determine the level of misconceptions of junior high school studentstowards static electricity and what are the obstacles for students in understanding the material sothat misconceptions occur. By using 7 students of SMPN 2 Hang Tuah Medan as research samples. The research method used is a qualitative method with a questionnaire technique with Gform andinterviews conducted online. By asking 5 questions about static electricity, it was found that about48.56% of the 7 students interviewed had misconceptions about static electricity. This happenedbecause of several factors, namely (1) the learning method was only in the form of explainingmaterial through group chats and independent study, (2) there was no evaluation conducted by theteacher on static electricity material. This is one of the limitations of online learning where theteacher focuses on explaining the material and does not provide opportunities for students to beinvolved in learning activities, resulting in the lack of self-confidence of students, and less than themaximum in achieving their knowledge. For this reason, further action is needed by the teacher inorder to overcome the misconceptions of static electricity material that exist in students.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the education system to adapt a new teaching system from offline to online. However, the ability of lecturers is often unable to keep up with rapid technological developments and the lack of resources provided by institutions, causes lecturers to feel stressed during the teaching and learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of technostress on lecturer performance using the Person-Organization Fit theory approach. The results showed that at the organizational level, the discrepancy between abilities and demands (AD-O) (B= -.39; p.01) had a significant negative and positive effect on lecturer needs with supplies (NS-O) (B=. 24;p.05) with performance. At the individual level, the mismatch between needs and supply (NS-T) (B=-.51; p.01), the absence of social support from colleagues (PPF) (B=-.32; p.01) had an effect significant negative. The findings of this study indicate that both the organizational level and peer support (AD-O and PPF) as well as the individual level (NS-T) play an important role in predicting a decrease in lecturer performance, while the mismatch between ability demands at the individual level has no effect on performance. The implications of this research will be discussed further in the discussion.
A novel biocontrol delivery system by using graphite was proven effective in controlling bacterial plant pathogens. In this study, a consortium of biocontrol agents, consisting of Bacillus subtilis and Trichoderma harzianum, was formulated in graphite added with silica nano particles (NPs). B. subtilis is an endophytic bacterium, while T. harzianum is a rhizosphere fungus. The formulation was in vitro tested on Phytophthora infestans, the cause of leaf blight on tomatoes. The objective of the experiment was to study the ability of single and consortium of B. subtilis and T. harzianum, formulated in graphite and silica NPs, in inhibiting the in vitro growth of P. infestans compared to the non-formulated ones. The experimental design was the randomized complete block design comprised of eight treatments and replicated four timens. The eight treatments were dual cultures of the consortium and the pathogen on V-8 medium as follow: B. subtilis only, B. subtilis + graphite + silica NPs, T. harzianum only, T. harzianum + graphite + silica NPs, B. subtilis + T. harzianum, B. subtilis + T. harzianum + graphite + silica NPs, graphite + silica NPs, and a control. It was concluded that the abilities of both single and consortium of B. subtilis and T. harzianum, formulated with graphite and silica NPs, in inhibiting the in vitro growth of P. infestans were the same as the nonformulated ones. This proved that the formulation in graphite added with silica NPs in the biocontrol delivery system did not reduce the ability of the biocontrol agents to control P. infestans in vitro. The pathogen growth inhibitions caused by the single and consortium of B. subtilis and T. harzianum formulated with graphite and silica NPs were ranged from 35 -54%, compared to the non-formulated ones 24.19 -49.48%.
The purpose of this study is based on exploratory research to identify "Challenges in Quality of Education in HEIs of Pakistan". The exploratory research approach is used to achieve the objectives of the study in less time and with inexpensive means. Pakistan is facing a lot of challenges in the education sector such as curriculum, few training institutions, corruption in education, teachers' behavior, and less research work. The purpose of our research is to identify the major challenges in the educational sector in Pakistan which the educational sector is suffering for the last few years. The researcher used triangulation to carry out the reliability and validity of the data for results. So, to conduct this triangulation the researcher used questionnaires for the students, questionnaires for the teachers, and interviews with the management. . Primary data was collected from the focused group of students using a sample of 100 questionnaires for each university were filled by the students of the selected five universities. The findings highlight the positive relationship between quality education and the challenges given above. These challenges caused restrictions in accomplishing competent teaching and learning with respect to quality education.
People communicate their views through their words. It is a way for language users to exchange information. It could be difficult to explain topics to primary school students verbally. They speak with weak vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. In order to address these challenges, the teacher encourages the smartphone app to enhance speaking class. She established a WhatsApp group to serve as the media for the in-class exercise. Every student participated in it. The instructor asked the students to participate in a discussion and book-based activities in bilingual grammar. Then they found the book's transcription of the short story. To facilitate transcription and reading aloud, this kind of content was altered. As a means to conclude, the teacher offered each student a picture to discuss in a pair. As a method to conclude the lesson, the teacher gave each student a photo to discuss in a pair. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the data were done. It follows that using video conferences to improve communication skills is successful. It is advantageous for the teachers to incorporate it into lessons on related subjects. Deeper projects will be undertaken by the other researchers as a result.
