-014EuSnP: A Novel Antiferromagnet with Two-Dimensional, Corrugated Sn Sheets.-Large single crystals of the title compound are grown from a Sn flux containing Eu, Mn, and phosphorus. EuSnP crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/nmm with Z = 2, as revealed by single crystal XRD. The structure consists of a repeat of three layers which stack in the c direction. In one layer, the Sn atoms form a corrugated sheet in which each Sn has four equal bonds to other Sn atoms. The compound shows antiferromagnetic ordering with a Neel temperature of T N = 21 K. The high temperature paramagnetic data obey the Curie-Weiss law and are consistent with an oxidation state of 2+ for Eu. Temperature dependent resistivity measurements indicate metallic behavior with a negative magnetoresistive transition at the magnetic ordering temperature. This transition is suppressed under an applied magnetic field. -(PAYNE, AMY C.; SPRAUVE, ANGELLA E.; HOLM, AARON P.; OLMSTEAD, MARILYN M.; KAUZLARICH, SUSAN M.; KLAVINS, PETER; J.
