A qualidade do solo é fundamental para garantir a sustentabilidade dos agroecossistemas. A resistência tênsil é um dos indicadores frequentemente utilizados para o monitoramento da qualidade do solo, sendo influenciada por diversos fatores, tais como o tamanho e a forma do agregado. Nesta pesquisa, foi considerada a hipótese de que o uso de uma única forma de agregados do solo reduz a variabilidade na avaliação da qualidade estrutural dos solos. Além disso, o tamanho dos agregados influencia na determinação da resistência tênsil. Desse modo, objetivou-se avaliar a relação da resistência tênsil com o tamanho e as formas que os agregados podem assumir. Foram utilizados duas faixas de diâmetro de agregados (25-19 e 19-7,96 mm) e três formas de agregados (irregular, bases aplainadas e esférica). Os agregados com diâmetros menores (13,5 mm) apresentaram os maiores valores médios de resistência tênsil (82,73 kPa). A resistência à tração determinada nos agregados esféricos apresentou menor variabilidade. Para esses agregados, o coeficiente de variação da resistência à tração foi de 29,30 e 19,29%, para os diâmetros médios de 22 e 13,5 mm, respectivamente. Em virtude disso, a forma deve ser considerada ao avaliar a resistência à tração do agregado do solo.
RESUMOA friabilidade do solo é considerada uma importante propriedade física dos solos agrícolas, uma vez que a condição friável é desejada para a germinação das sementes, crescimento das plantas e o estabelecimento das culturas. O objetivo foi estimar os valores de resistência tênsil de agregados do solo em formas naturais com o equipamento TS-Soil portátil, e estimar a friabilidade do solo associando-a à dispersão dos dados de resistência tênsil. Para isso, a coleta dos dados de resistência tênsil foi realizada em agregados coletados nos horizontes A, Bi, Bt com caráter coeso, Bt e Bw. Os agregados foram postos ao ar por 36 horas, para secagem e homogeneização do teor de água. Foram selecionados 30 agregados na forma natural, dos quais tiveram a resistência tênsil em solo seco medida no equipamento portátil TS-Soil. Os maiores valores de resistência tênsil entre os horizontes foram observados nos horizontes Bt e Bt com caráter coeso -como também, os maiores valores de desvios-padrão. Os horizontes diagnósticos de superfície e subsuperficiais foram classificados desde friáveis a muito friáveis. A estimativa da friabilidade com dados de resistência tênsil de agregados obtida com o equipamento portátil TS-Soil, resulta em resultados similares e condizentes com o descritivo morfológico obtido em campo na avaliação do pedólogo.Palavras-chave: estrutura do solo, física do solo, instrumentação na agricultura.
O Serviço Autônomo de Água e Esgoto (SAAE), de Viçosa (MG), em parceria com outras instituições, executou, de 2012 a 2015, um Projeto de implantação de práticas de conservação do solo e da água em propriedades de agricultores/as da Bacia do Rio Turvo Sujo. Objetivou-se identificar, no campo, as práticas implantadas pelo SAAE e as percepções dos agricultores/as sobre os resultados obtidos após a implantação destas práticas. Utilizou-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com 19 agricultores/as beneficiados pelo projeto. A maioria dos entrevistados tinha consciência da importância das práticas para reduzir a erosão e aumentar o volume de água nas nascentes. Os terraços (67%) e as barraginhas (61%) foram apontados como as práticas mais eficientes no controle da erosão do solo. O plantio de árvores e a revegetação dos topos dos morros foram consideradas práticas necessárias para conservação do solo e da água. É importante a inclusão dos agricultores/as em todas as etapas do projeto.
