A pesquisa teve por objetivo verificar a existência de associação entre a divulgação de informações acerca de instrumentos financeiros derivativos e características econômicas de sociedades brasileiras de Capital Aberto. Para tanto, realizou-se levantamento em demonstrações financeiras padronizadas de 75 companhias listadas nos Níveis Diferenciados de Governança Corporativa da BM&FBovespa. Na primeira etapa, pesquisa documental identificou as informações acerca dos instrumentos financeiros derivativos divulgados pelas empresas, adotando-se métrica desenvolvida a partir dos dispositivos constantes do Pronunciamento Técnico CPC 14 - Instrumentos Financeiros: Reconhecimento, Mensuração e Evidenciação. Em análise preliminar, verificou-se que nenhuma das empresas da amostra apresentou todos os itens de evidenciação requeridos, bem como que apenas 11, dos 30 itens de evidenciação, foram divulgados por mais de 50% das companhias constantes da amostra. Em seguida, procedeu-se à Análise de Correspondência (ANACOR) para verificar a associação entre os atributos das firmas e seu nível de evidenciação. No que tange aos resultados obtidos, verificou-se que os atributos 'Tamanho' e 'Lucro' estão, positivamente, associados à divulgação de informações sobre instrumentos financeiros derivativos, não se verificando associação significante entre os atributos 'Endividamento' e 'Rentabilidade', com a divulgação de informações sobre instrumentos financeiros derivativos.
Diante das peculiaridades contábeis dos ativos intangíveis, em 2008, o Comitê de Pronunciamentos Contábeis (CPC) entendeu necessário disciplinar os procedimentos de divulgação para tais elementos. Entretanto, considera-se que, mesmo obrigadas a cumprir esse normativo, as empresas valem-se da discricionariedade no tocante às práticas de disclosure, podendo haver incentivos econômicos que determinem um maior nível de divulgação. Deste modo, objetivouse verificar se há associação entre a divulgação de informações acerca dos ativos intangíveis e as características das companhias listadas na BM&FBovespa. Para tanto, foram analisadas as notas explicativas das demonstrações contábeis padronizadas de 125 empresas não financeiras, referentes ao exercício de 2009. Adotando-se métrica desenvolvida a partir dos dispositivos contidos no CPC 04, foram levantadas as práticas de divulgação dessas companhias relativas aos ativos intangíveis. Foi realizada a Análise de Correspondência e aplicados testes de diferenças entre médias. O estudo possibilitou constatar que as classes dos ativos intangíveis, o valor contábil e o valor amortizado, bem como os métodos e as vidas úteis são os elementos mais frequentemente divulgados pelas companhias. Verificou-se indicativo de associação positiva entre o atributo lucro e o disclosure de ativos intangíveis, mas o estudo não foi conclusivo. Constatou-se que, nas empresas listadas no Novo Mercado, não foi maior a observância das práticas de divulgação quando comparadas com as companhias dos outros dois níveis diferenciados de governança corporativa da BM&FBovespa.
Objetivou-se verificar o comportamento das maiores empresas brasileiras em vendas, com atuação nas regiões Norte/Nordeste, Centro-Oeste, Sudeste e Sul, listadas na revista Exame Melhores e Maiores, a partir da perspectiva de criação ou destruição de valor doEVA®. Analisaram-se 316 empresas com o auxílio da estatística descritiva e da Análise de Correspondência para verificar a associação entre as empresas que mais criam valor (EVA®) e as regiões brasileiras e os setores de atuação. Constatou-se que 217 empresas criaram valor enquanto 99 destruíram valor. Os resultados dos testes apontaram que a região Centro-Oeste e os setoresatacado e varejo estão associados a uma alta criação de valor, não confirmando a primeira e a segunda hipóteses de pesquisa. Os resultados apontaram ainda que apenas 5 empresas mantiveram-se nas mesmas posições ao se comparar o ranking da revista Examecom aquele elaborado pela perspectiva EVA®, não se confirmando a terceira hipótese de pesquisa.
